I'm thinking of publishing (via Natural 20 Press) some material that I have floating around in my head...What would the assembled company most like to see out of the following choices:

1. A guide to Strongholds, Fiefs, and the like: a mass combat system, rules for besieging a castle, harvesting the natural resources of fiefs, levying taxes, and some morale rules (treat your peasants right - or they'll revolt) for managing the populace. Plus some types of Strongholds.

2. A list of my alternative rules, including a low - magic magic system, clerical "miracles," a skill-based attack/defense combat system, etc.

3. My highly unique Arthurian Avalon campaign setting, including the aforementioned Alt. rules, complete with history, legends, NPCs, PrCs, geography, artifacts like the Holy Grail and Excalibur.

what of these would you rather see? please give me input...

Some good, comprehensive, yet fairly simple and uncomplicated rules for running a fief would be a tremendous help. I once bought a Harn supplement that contained rules for this sort of thing, but could never use it because I don't have a degree in accounting and don't know how to use a spreadsheet program.

some considerations....

Right now I don't think there's been too many d20 products relating to King Arthur or that vein of gaming. I'm pretty up on all the d20 products, so if there have been any, I can't recall seeing them. There might be a market for an Arthurian setting because of this.

Alternative rules systems are good, but there are way to many different magic systems or "enhancements" around already. I will only buy so many. Sovereign Stone, Monte's Malhavoc Press (my brand of choice), Sword & Socery, and a few others have already done a lot in this regard.

As for strongholds and mass combat, I know that WotC's Stronghold Builder's Guide is coming out soon, and many people will buy WotC just b/c they usually trust WotC over third party d20 for rules, balance (S&F being a noted exception IMO :) ), and utility (since WotC still hasn't added a lot of their D&D content to the SRD).

Just my opinion,
C.I.D.

Cyronax: there's always the possibility that WoTC's stuff might suck. Anyway, mine would be cheaper.

I could perhaps market the Avalon campaign setting with the stronghold rules included; of course that might make it really long...

or do you think I should try to make both an Avalon setting AND the Stronghold rules separately? The reason I ask is that RangerWickett and Morrus said they would be unlikely to publish campaign settings...

I would love to see some good rules for a low magic system. Most of the stuff that's out is more of a tack on to the current magic system than a real alternate system. Although I have to admit that I haven't had a chance to check out Sovereign Stone's system yet and it sounds pretty promising.
