Many of my favorites fantasies have been mentioned, but I'd include

13th Kingdom
Ninja Scroll
Vampire Hunter D (both)

Salome's Last Dance
I Claudius

More modern
from TV: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Indiana Jones
The Mummy (both)
Pitch Black & Chronicles of Riddick (SciFi Conan)
Angel Heart
Cutthroat Island
Pirates of the Caribbean
Brotherhood Of The Wolf
Cronos (awesome Spanish vampire movie)
The Devil's Advocate
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai

Mazes & Monsters starring multiple Academy Award winning actor Tom Hanks

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Too far Diaglo ... too far!

Sigh ... :( Ruined my whole day remembering that.

Anyway - as to the list:

Hawk the Slayer
Ladyhawke
The animated version of the Hobbit (surprised no one mentioned this one yet...)
The Name of the Rose (gotta love the secret inside of the library ... I have used that image MANY times)
Dark Crystal

Not really many others, and with all of the above there were really only individual parts or scenes that grabbed my attention.

Three equal and bestest:
- Conan the Barbarian (DVD director's cut is much better than theatrical release)
- 13th Warrior
- LOTR series

Other inspiration:
- Star Wars (Episode IV)
- Shakespeare (The Tempest, Henry V, including variants like Kurosawa's "Ran" (MacBeth) and the 50's sci fi Forbidden Planet (The Tempest))
- Army of Darkness
- Willow
- D&D Movie 2 (give it a chance!)
- Braveheart
- The Princess Bride
- Robin Hood (1930s Errol Flynn version)
- 1930s Saturday morning matinee serials (Indiana Jones is the modern version)
- Westerns (my favorites are The Searchers and Unforgiven)
- Kung Fu movies ("You killed my father, prepare to die!" isn't really a concept from Princess Bride)

TV:
- Star Trek (the old show)
- Mystery: Cadfael
- Stargate SG1
- Stargate Atlantis
- Babylon 5
- Dr. Who

Though anything can be inspirational. I was thinking about what to steal from "Band of Brothers" last night. :)

Heheh, it's fun to have a list with Shakespeare next to a Bruce Campbell zombie movie!
