Inspirational Fantasy Movies

Hmm... haven't been enjoying the recent movies, though I am tempted to check some of those mentioned here out. Top five, in no particular order is as follows:

1) Conan the Barbarian
2) Beastmaster
3) Highlander
4) Clash of the Titans
5) Jason and the Argonauts

Pretty much all of my favorites were covered. I'm glad to see Robin of Sherwood mentioned. I just got the special edition boxed set a few months ago and I'm glad I did. That was perhaps the best take on Robin Hood I've ever seen and really gets me in the mood for a 1e gamefest. I also like Time Bandits, Excalibur, Hawk the Slayer, Lady Hawk, Labrinth, Legend, Krull and most of the other 1980's fantasy flicks that really get me jonesing for a good game of 1e.

One of my favorites is clearly Beowulf with Christopher Lambert. Sure, it looks a little cheap. But its dark and oppressive mood should fit most Greyhawk-Campaigns pretty well.

Moving over to the Horror genre, try out:

The Ring (Japanese version with subtitles, although, to be fair, the American version isn't bad)
Juon (Not sure what the English title for this is - The Grudge? Something like that)
The Shining
Amityville Horror
28 Days
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (For how to REALLY play dopplegangers)

When I think of 1e, I think of the 80's.
