Interview questions?

BiggusGeekus, in his "Got a Job!" thread, mentioned asking what book the employer should read if they could make them read one book. Excellent question, btw.

Anyone following my job-hunting thread, will know that I might be going on some interviews coming up, and I think it's extremely important that the employee ask questions of their employer that will help give some insight into the culture and the work life of their future company.

Some questions that I have asked:

Describe the culture here at XX.

Describe a typical day for me if I work here?

If you could change anything about this company, what would you change?

What do you like best about this company?

What questions have you asked?

What would be my core hours?

How would you describe the corporate culture here?

And three specific questions about their products or services.
* Will your product be including X in the future?
* I liked Y, will you be expounding on that?
* I also liked Z. It was a great feature. Could you tell me more about it?

If their website does not have anything specific for you to draw from, just say you are unclear about their products/services and ask for them to elaborate.

Incidentally, at the place where I landed a job: I had already asked my questions about the product in the first round of interviewing. During the second round, I was asked if I had any more questions about the product. I said, no, my questions had been answered very well and I felt that I was on solid ground. The guy looked at me and said: "ask me questions about the product".

Sometimes, you just have to think fast.

Good luck!

edit: you already had the corporate culture question. Mea culpa.

I've asked most of those, plus:

* How long have you worked for the company?

* What's your background (how did you get into the industry, etc.)?

* What happened to the person who had this position for which I'm interviewing? (did they leave, get promoted, get let go, etc.)
