Into Khybers Gate

[sblock]I'm going to assume that I can follow far enough back that I eventually catch up to Bloodtalon and Sedar. If not, let me know.[/sblock]

Johanel sees Bloodtalon and Sedar talking to each other and approaches them.

"What did you find? Where did our 'Friend' go?", asks Johanel.

"Our friend went in that house there, but not before leaving a sign for his two gnome friends, who went into that tavern. We're currently wondering whether we should investigate the tavern or the house. Bloodtalon thinks tavern, and I'm inclined to agree, but we shouldn't forget the house."

"That works, though it might be better if only one of us goes in. I guess I'd be better able to blend into a crowd, but it seems Johanel has fewer definite... identifying marks." Sedar remarks, tucking at his scarf, then tightening it again.

Bloodtalon finds a position in a nearby alley where he can observe the house and the tavern unobtrusively. When Sedar and Johanel approach the older gnomes barely glance up from their game. The tavern obviously caters to the shorter races as the front door is barely 5' tall. Inside the chairs and tables are likewise sized. Inside a fire blazes from a raised hearth in the center of the floor. Nearly half the tavern is taken up by a dance floor and a stage. A band of gnomes are playing a lively tune for the couples on the dance floor. Most of the tables are occupied by a mix of halflings, gnomes, and even a few dwarves. There is a wide bar across the room from the dance floor and around the far side of the room are more secluded booths. You don't immediately spot the gnome that went inside earlier, but you only had a brief look at him across the street in the rain.

I guess our employer himself won't be in here. Sedar thinks to himself as he looks for an empty, non-reserved table for Johanel and himself. He wants to get a bit of the taste of the tavern's athmosphere before he gets deep into investigation.

Sedar and Johanel manage to find an open table close to the middle of the room where they have a good view around them. Your first impression is that the place is a typical tavern. There are a dozen couples out on the dance floor and the band has started up another tune. Waitresses are moving from table to table to take drink and meal orders. Hardly anyone is sitting alone.
After a few moments a waitress comes by to take your drink orders.

While the waitress is speaking with you, you spot the older gnome that left the game outside emerging from one of the privacy booths in the back. He begins to make his slow way back towards the entrance.
