Invisible Blade from CW -- almost TPK'd my group.

Doh, quickdraw one dagger from the other nine daggers they carrry, not sure if that's the right way to go about things there.
Well, I'd be hoping the other daggers won't be as nasty. The tactic won't work against a soulknife, though.

It sounds as if the key factor in this combat being so nasty was that the character could get a sneak attack on each of his attacks?

So in what ways is this nastier than being attacked by a party which includes a rogue with improved invisibility?

*** Thread Drift Warning...***

OK, still here? Great! By fortunate chance, I saw this thread just as I was planning my PC for a new campaign, and would welcome any input. I really like both the Invisible Blade (CompWar) and Black Flame Zealot (CompDiv) PrCs and think that both classes have nice synergies from both a story and metagame perspective. I am trying to build a character into both classes, based on Rogue, Cleric, and Monk core classes. Generally, the concept looks effective, but I am having trouble with the sequencing- there are lots of feat requirements balanced by needed skill points. Any suggestions are welcome!

Nobody so far has asked what level the PCs were and what classes. It makes a big difference if they were a 6th or 7th level party or if they were level 8 or 9. It also makes a big difference whether there's a paladin in the group. Even a 7th level paladin with maxed sense motive (it's not like he's got anything else to spend skill points in) is likely to have +18 or +19 to his sense motive check to avoid being bluffed. (With just Sense Motive+BAB; if he gets to add strength, enhancement (from his weapon), morale, etc, he's probably hovering around +25).

Anyway, I'm surprised nobody pulled out a darkness or obscuring mist spells or grappled the invisible blade.

The party had 6 players. It normally would have had 8. They were:

A fighter 11 DEAD.
A cleric 11
A psychic warrior 11 NEAR-DEATH.
A Rogue3/Sorceror6/Arcane Trickster2
An Evoker 9 (new character) DEAD.
A Rogue 9 (new character) DEAD.

missing from the group were a paladin (somewhere around level 9, and a monk/cleric/sacred fist around the same level.

They fought the invisible blade, fist of hextor, and spellsword, a cleric7/sorceror3 and a fighter/monk/Weapon Master armed with a quarterstaff.

The battle took place in a cathedral sanctuary. On paper, this worked out to be an EL15 battle. (3 CR10 opponents = 13, plus one CR11 opponent = 14 plus one CR12 opponent = 15)

The cleric survived because she was stuck in a sleet storm. The trickster survived because she shot magic missiles and fireballs from outside the cathedral. The Evoker put up a Bigby's hand between himself and the invisible blade, but got taken down by the weapon master.

I had prepared to have 7 characters (I found out last minute the paladin wouldn't be there.) which would have bumped up the average Party level to around 12. I'm convinced in hindsight the paladin wouldn't have been much help because of the sleet storm. His dex is 8, wears plate mail, and has no ranks in Balance.
