Ioun stones & more

Dull Grey Ioun stones are the best gifts!

25gp for a mount on which you can put other jewelry... what girlfriend wouldn't love a diamond-studded dull grey ioun stone flying around her head all day long?

2. The pearly white Ioun stone regenerates 1 point of damage per hour (close to useless), but at the same time you see in the text that it works like a ring of regeneration which regenerates 1 point of damage per level every 5 minutes (which is a whole different ballgame).

Note: The ring of regeneration actually heals normal damage at 1 hp/level per hour. (Per SRD.) It's only subdual/nonlethal damage that it regenerates at 1 hp/level per 5 minutes.

Just get a dull grey Ioun stone to orbit around your head, then when you need some light but dont want to drop your shield or weapon, have light cast upon your floating stone and you have a magical miner's light.

Sure... one that blinds you every couple seconds as it orbits in front our your eyes. ;)

Ioun stones NEVER circle in front of your eyes. What kind of moronic sorc would make one that did that?!?!? (It would have to be a sorc, no wizard is ever that dumb)

As a 3E Psion, I had a DM who let us buy most anything from the DMG; He didn't really get why was snapping up 40 or 50 dull gray Ioun stones, until I was using them to power my psionic abilities; you can suck 1 power point from a dull gray and make it crumble to dust. I used them and never had to use my Power Points for anything but my powers, and every battlefield I was present on was LITTERED with grey powder flying away from me by centrifugal force as I powered up my Psionic Shot feat... :D

Another thing about Ioun Stones: Since they're not actually on your person and just sorta orbitin', enemies have an easier time snatching them away from you. I'd still count them as "attended" for the purposes of saving throws, though. :)

In a short fun campaign, one player played a beholderkin. He had several Ioun Stones and looked like a model of a solar system.
