There's no racial stereotype for humanity. Or, rather, there are too many

Oh, it does. But it also creates a very real distance between what you write and who you are. Your character's opinions are not necessarily your own, it's just a role you're playing. In other words, I'm not a total jerk (most of the time...) ;)

Trust me, if I was like some of the villains I have run, I would DESERVE to be kept under 24 hour observation by the authorities. ;) Nor am I as noble as some of my characters and NPCs. The beginning of wisdom, perhaps, is to admit that you do not have all the answers --- and maybe not even all of the questions.

Edena, continue when you are ready.

Serpenteye, Anabstercorian get your guns and whoop some magic up! He's doing it again! Put the bstrd down!

;)

Chuckle, I just reread the entire 3rd IR because of this thread, I hold you all responsible for the loss of a week of my life!

William: Good to see you again, sorry I didn't respond to the last email I got from you, it was an excellent story, I suppose you'd read the Chronicles of Pyridan ? I left the email on the wrong computer when I went back to university so I lacked your address. *grrr*

 Yes, Queen Vaerogoth, for you I will do this favour. How fares the Hive?

"Only a fool believes himself to be wise."

(It's not very humanistic, but the best I could come up with on a short notice.)

The Hive flourishes and the genetic breeding pits are buzzing with activity. I still have to write a tad up for the IR atlas on how I spent the last 2 wishes :p

I am glad that you liked the short story. I read the Chronicles of Prydain when I was much younger and enjoyed them. I plan to do a little more work on the short story and see about publication possibilities.

Serpenteye: "Those who know do not tell, and those who tell do not know." Lao Tzu. "Or, wisdom, like beauty, is perhaps most objectively judged by others. One proclaiming his own wisdom may be likened to someone spending too much time with a mirror." (No further speculation out of respect for Eric Noah's grandmother. :D ) Or wisdom is like a path. It is perhaps better to focus on the journey rather than trying to measure how far one has travelled -- especially in regards to others.

"But beauty, like wisdom, can never be judged objectively. There is no absolute standard to which one can compare oneself and no absolute method by which one can make the comparison. Wisdom can never be weighed or measured, it may not even be entirely relative for it posesses many different aspects. It will forever remain subjective. And who can better judge us than ourselves? Whose judgement is most valuable, when we are shaped by the way we define ourselves? There is beauty and wisdom in everyone, is that not what matters? Let the 'fools' have their 'unjustified pride'. For who are you to know that your wisdom is greater than theirs?"

Heh! I can spew out tripe like this for hours but is it really going to take me any closer to world-domination? I doubt it. Which probably means that this, however subjectively erronoeus it might be, is probably a sign of wisdom.
