The Forsaken One was kind enough to e-mail me. (I have been busy of late.)
I think that one of the most important posts that impacted on the IR was Reprisal's post on the rise of democracy. I think it would be reasonable to attribute these remarks to Ian Payne, the character played by Reprisal in the 1st and 2nd IRs.
Perhaps the most surprising thing in the 1st IR was how sharply divided the lines were drawn. There was much more diplomacy, as I recall, in the subsequent IRs.
