(IR) Should I continue this endeavor? Will anyone read it?

Hi, Edena:

PLEASE, Please continue. GOod to see you posting on the boards. I hope that you are well, and having a blast this holiday season.

I hope that everyone who has posted here is doing well.

The Forsaken One was kind enough to e-mail me. (I have been busy of late.)

I think that one of the most important posts that impacted on the IR was Reprisal's post on the rise of democracy. I think it would be reasonable to attribute these remarks to Ian Payne, the character played by Reprisal in the 1st and 2nd IRs.

Perhaps the most surprising thing in the 1st IR was how sharply divided the lines were drawn. There was much more diplomacy, as I recall, in the subsequent IRs.

True, but that's quite natural. The IR, even though it would eventually become the greatest game of all, didn't start out as a game at all. It was more of an OOC discussion with IC trappings -"My character would do this, my other character would do that." "Technomancy does not pollute." "Save the rainforest." There was little actual role-playing, at first. Then it eventually and gradually evolved into a game.

Wow, it's been a long time since I've been at these forums, not since I started university, 4 months ago.

Thankfully, I was looking over my brothers shoulder when he was reading the forums, and I decided to see if Edena was allready back. To my surprise he was, but only a few days. Talk about coincedence.

but anyway, edena, I'd like to read more about the IR's. specially since I heard lots about the previous IR's when I eas in the 4th.

But more important matters, how are you? Still Healthy and all?

Please do carry on Edena, I remember it, i'd like to reread it. If it weren't for the 1st IR, and the iconics there wouldn't be a IC forum now...

A good point. I would like to state that most people care about what happens to their characters and sides in an online game. In a general discussion, people tend to have much lower stakes, and perhaps extrapolate a bit more. (In the real world, survival instincts are important.)

Good to see everyone in the thread. How is university, Tim?

thanks for asking william!

It's really good, something I should've done years ago, if I was allowed too, that is, hehehe. I'm having a real good time there, busy with organizing all kind of things, just the things I like!

How are you?

I am doing well, working on prerequisites for a master's degree. I also plan to take time to work on a few things in the next few weeks, including the thread linked to my sig.

An interesting point about the first IR is how little division there seemed to be among different races, except for humanity. Again, I think my point that creating a character and a side in a game tends to crystalize certain opinions and makes people aware of the stakes involved in a game.

There's no racial stereotype for humanity. Or, rather, there are too many

Oh, it does. But it also creates a very real distance between what you write and who you are. Your character's opinions are not necessarily your own, it's just a role you're playing. In other words, I'm not a total jerk (most of the time...) ;)
