So that folks don't have to wear out the refresh button, here's the deal:

First seven people who post an "I'm in!" post with a time stamp after 12 noon on Monday, October 13 will be the contestants. You don't need to wait for any starting gun from me.

Nemmerle, as winner of the last tournament, gets the eighth slot automatically.

Other folks get alternate slots.

So far, in four hours, 4-5 people have expressed interest in the tournament in this thread. I'm not too too worried about it filling up too quickly. Interest level looks to be about normal for the game.

One query…

Do we post in this thread on Monday or will there be another sign up thread?

As I understand it, this is the thread to go.

And Pielorinho: I got you (babe! :)), I just wasn't sure whether my Germanity was problematic for the tournament. That I won't have 24 hours to complete the assignment is strictly my problem.

So, 6 p.m. it is then. Doesn't sound quite as cinematic as High Noon, but I can deal :D

It's High 6 pm. Your Germanity is not a problem at all: on the contrary, it means that the winner will be the International Iron DM :D.

Wicht, sign-up will be in this thread.

Here's a little more information about what I’m looking for in an entry. I'll post the actual rules for the tournament later.

this whole post is great. just great.

well stated :)

Glad that post makes sense, alsih2o. I don't want to restrict folks in what they post, but I also don't want to see someone posting something way out of line because they genuinely think that's what I'm asking for.

There's one more thing I wanted to add to that post: risks are great, but they're risky. If you do something really weird, it'll either work, in which case I'll be in awe, or it'll fail, in which case you'll probably lose the round. I've seen people in previous rounds complain because they took a big risk (i.e, did something totally unexpected) and lost because the judge didn't "get" what they were doing. Fair warning: if I don't get it, I'll blame you, not me. If I do get it, however, I'm likely to be impressed with your huevos.

Sorry, humbleminion, about the inconvenient time. Maybe for the next tournament folks can figure out a way to give everyone around the world an equally fair opportunity for signing up; however, I'm stuck trying to make it convenient for as many people as possible, thus my noon EST time. Drink coffee!

maybe next time you could do the first 2 after noon, the first 2 after 4, the first 2...

and spread the luv :)
