Iron Man, by a Marching Band?

Well, just came in from grocery shopping (yeah, I have an exciting life) and the local HS marching band was playing. I could hear them faintly in the distance.

Dum, Dum, Dumdumdum, dumdumdumdumdumdum, dum, dumdum.....

friggen IRON MAN by Black Sabbath!

Man, I'm getting old....

WHOA!

You know, the pep band at hockey games at my alma mater played that song nearly every game.

I guess I don't find the concept that weird...

Kick@$$. That song rocks!

Hmm. Is it that good a song? I've never heard it.

I just found it, played it cool! It is about the cartoon/comic character yes?

we played that in my high school marching band days too...

but it was almost brand spanking new then...

Has he lost his mind?
Can he see or is he blind?
Can he walk at all,
Or if he moves will he fall?
Is he alive or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head?
We'll just pass him there
why should we even care?

He was turned to steel
in the great magnetic field
When he travelled time
for the future of mankind

Nobody wants him
He just stares at the world
Planning his vengeance
that he will soon unfurl

Now the time is here
for Iron Man to spread fear
Vengeance from the grave
Kills the people he once saved

Nobody wants him
They just turn their heads
Nobody helps him
Now he has his revenge

Heavy boots of lead
fills his victims full of dread
Running as fast as they can
Iron Man lives again!

Was I dreaming when I heard that somewhere in the US had adopted Louie Louie by the Kingsmen as its official tune and I remember hearing that played by a marching band.

Man, why couldn't it have been something like "Sweet Leaf" or "The Wizard"? "Iron Man" is so cliche...

The local radio station even had a parody called "Santa Claus"

Leave him cookies and beer...
He'll come to your house first next year...
