Is A Thrown Weapon Ever a Ranged Weapon?

Ah, thrown weapons and ability score substitution ... reminds me that nothing is as silly as this build:

Half elf bard with versatile master, combat virtuoso, and twin strike (from dilettante).
A hungry spear (AV2) ... enchanted on a dwarven urgrosh .. = d12 heavy thrown axe.
Twin strike using charisma.

Good times.
Even moar funny if it MCs into avalanche hurler.

Oh, and here's one final bit of weirdness with ranged weapons & the use of powers.

Fighter picks up a longbow.
Uses Come and Get It (fighter 7, PH)
Attacks multiple targets in a close burst 1 ... with strength.

So, if you have a male barbarian axe hurler wearing a red loincloth, a female sword and board paladin sword hurler in blue armor, a yellow-robed wizard with magic missle, and an elven ranger with a green hat...

That one of this party is at some point going to need food badly. Remind them of this, when it occurs.

I suggest, as a DM, you make food and potion drops a regular thing. But, tell them they need to save at least one potion for Death.

Damnit ... I'm having trouble making a sword hurler & board paladin.

IT MUST BE DONE.

Oh ... it just has the option to throw ... a d6 heavy blade ... rather than being the primary mode of attack.
I mean fine ... if you don't play it like gauntlet and have everyone spam ranged attacks, it's not bad ...

But ... when you have the option to throw a D12 axe, next to a human wizard, and an elf ranger ...
(where the human wizard and elf ranger are potentially op builds)

I dunno ...

I was thinking of mainclassing bard instead, just 'cos they actually have ranged powers.
3 armour/shield feats is steep, but I reckon it's more gauntlet-y.

So ... half elf (for easy access to 15 con), mage's drow long knife (AV, for free proficiency feat) ...

Oh, but you see, it IS faithful.

The Valkyrie did have the weakest ranged attack of all four of them, but she had -mad- damage reduction and defensive capabilities, as well as the second best hand-to-hand in the game. She often stood at the front while the wizard and elf lobbed the highest damage and fastest ranged attacks in the game.

More so in Gauntlet Legends and Dark Legacy, when it was faster for a Valkyrie to get from point A to point B if there was a swarm of enemies in the way than if it were a clear field with nothing in it!

I know my Gauntlet well.

Well, I'm still trying to find a way to reliably throw a bastard sword. lol
(I reckon improvised throwing a magic weapon = it doesn't come back, 'cos it's not a magical thrown weapon)

Hmm ... not exactly a "ranged" attack, but I found a way to give a sword user melee reach 5.

Blade of the Eldritch Knight (AV2 p114)

Hmm ... I'm gonna look at chaladin, now.
