But from what I heard, Guild Wars is free to play online. However, you can choose to pay for downloadable updates as they're released that add new dungeons, equipment, skills, etc.

So you can play the game for free online, but if you want to get new content for the game as time goes on, you'll need to pay for the downloadable updates.

They won't be releasing monthly expansions.

I'd be surprised if they released more than one expansion per year at most.

Yes, it's free to play online. You get to enjoy any updates to the game for free also, until they start releasing expansion packs. But you don't need to buy those if you don't want to.

At least that was free too, until Blizzard started charging fee for their battle.net server, then I stopped playing it.

I'd rather be a Guild Warrior than an EverCrack Whore 4 life.
