Strange, as my copy doesn't have that???

Thing is I thought I read an account from here of someone using bits but I can't find hide nor hair of it.

I'm looking at the credits page (pg 2) about 2/3 of the way down, below the note that the book uses 3.5 rules. I suppose it's possible you may have a different printing or something where this note is not present.

For it to include open content, I believe there would have to be at least a whole page devoted to the OGL and there would have to be clear definitions as to which text is open (as you see in 3rd party books and a small number of WotC books that are open). I don't see this in HoH. By default, any D&D book does not use the OGL; if you're going to you have to be explicit about it.

Seem to have resolved it. I'm not interested in a horror material as such, but I spotted a surface similarity in a mechanic and wanted to check I wasn't out of order.

The SRD for 3.5 included, as far as I recall, content from the three core books, the psionics stuff, the options from Unearthed Arcana, and bits of Deities and Demigods. Not everything in those books was in there (most obviously, the rules for creating and advancing characters were omitted); the only way to be sure is to check the SRD, and if you want to stay OGL compliant I strongly recommend putting your books away and using the SRD as your sole WotC resource just to be sure.

Been keeping well clear of the books but I was sucked into searching after I found Unearthed Arcana material in the d20 SRD (couldn't find it in the 3,0 and 3.5 SRDS) then was pointed towards related non-SRD, (or questionable which might as well be non-) SRD material in Heroes of Horror.
