Just in observing the 4e apprehension/Hate/dislike here on the forums, it seems that the majority comes from people who DM more than they play. Lets take a poll and see shall we?

Answer the question that BEST fits your stance. I know I'm not going to get your exact feelings on the topic, just try not to be difficult.

DM. No 4e for me.

I'll like to add that I did not like at all the "preview" books in 3.5, so this is not arbitrary.

As Dm maybe apprehension. It seems intresting but not enough to relearn how to run things again. I'll see the first few modules and DI applications before going too far with it.

WOTC's great PR in previous months have gotten my players pretty anti-4e to the point they don't go to wizards or similar sites anymore.

DM, not happy with 95% of what I'm hearing (and what I like can mostly be HRed into 3.x). I still may DM 4.0, but I see a better chance of it imploding my group (I see dividing lines forming already).

That said, I don't want to ever play in a 4.0 game, since the base classes, races, and rules that we've heard of don't appeal to me at all (and as a player, I don't have much say over the campaign world beyond not playing).

I think "apprehensive" is a little misleading though. I am apprehensive about 4.0 as a DM because I see it breaking apart my group, not for any rules issues (although I do agree about not wanting to relearn a system just to run some games, but that's more of an annoyance). I'm not apprehensive about it as a player, since it's not going to kill me to not play D&D (I won't stop gaming, there's plenty of other systems out there, but gone will be the days of being in 4 F2F games at one time).

Haha, I'm the only difficult one so far?

I mostly play. Not sure where my 'mostly like or dislike' would lie.

So far I like most of the flavor stuff. It's the mechanics that have me concerned. Unfortunatly we aren't likely to see enough mechanics to make an informed decision until the books are released. I have made an intentional effort to stay as neutral as possible until then.

I've read Races & Classes (mostly, I'll finish it tonight), and wait for Worlds & monsters. I have also pre-ordered Keep on the Shadowfell, which I will be running for the UGT. I will do my best to not make a decision before then.

I'm mostly a GM and I don't have enough information to make a fully informed decesion.

My favorite campaign setting is being trashed in a way that would cause heart attacks among the Greyhawk grongards for example. Racial pantheons getting the axe and the great wheel changes are also not favs of mine either.

Some of the game mechanic changes? Some of them sound solid.

Wow!

I'm impressed we are getting almost exclusively negative (apprehensive) DMs' and players' posts while, at the time I voted, the votes for "more like than dislike it" were clearly leading the poll both among mostly DMs and mostly players.

Just manifesting my mostly positive read of what has been released so far. There is fluff I don't like but 4e seems more flavorful than the previous edition (which is good for me so far). And many of the mechanics change seem for the better. I don't agree with some of the design principles but I still have to see it turning the rules into something unpalatable for me.

Cheers.

Hit the wrong option -- was aiming for GM and got player instead. Curse my post-lunch sleepiness!

Anyway, "apprehensive" sums up my feelings entirely. I hope it won't suck, but the previews aren't helping with that.
