Is the Force Dragon unhittable?

Want another +2 to hit? For a circumstance bonus, have your buddy assist you (what's that called? Aid another?) by rolling to hit some low AC.

I think attacking from above also gives a circumstance bonus. I'd need to check my books, though. :)

+1 for highground :)

One of my players came up with this (thanks to Bo):

40th Ranger (+30 BAB), using Dread Bow (+14) and Dread Arrows (+14), with Bracers of Archery (+2), feats of WF, EWF, and PBS (+4), twinked out Dex (+17), Divine Favor (+6), Pale Green Ioun Stone (+1) = +88 to hit with first attack, how convenient. :D

Silly boy. 4th level Ranger. Non-magical bow. One Dread arrow. Hunter's Mercy.

Not that this is super-relevant, but I'll also point out that in reality, an epic CR 43 dragon isn't actually a fair fight for a group of 40th-level characters. We all know how ridiculous dragon CRs are; the ELH doesn't fix this problem. I'd say the aforementioned dragon is a CR 47 or 48 encounter, and thence a fair fight for a bunch of 45th-level characters.

+98 before spell buffs

Thanks for the props shockney, but you're a little off on my archer. 40th ranger, +30 BAB, +17 from DEX, DEX item for +6 more, +2 bracers of archery, +3 luck from skin of hero, +10 dread bow which is actually +14, same bonus for +10 dread arrows, +2 from bane of enemies feat, +5 from epic prowess, +2 epic focus, +2 from way of the lion feat(works if opponent has natural armor), +1 point blank shot...for a total of +98 (unless my math is off)

I think we figued damage per arrow averaging somewhere around 60 or so...his DR means nothing to me, haste for 5 attacks a round and you are looking at 300 points of damage without even buffing or getting a critical.

You could easily add in some deepwood sniper and wasp bounty hunter levels and jack up the crits to x5 and shoot arrows that do 1d8+1d10 base damage with everything else and you are now at about 80 points per arrow before buffs and crits...im sure I could get to about 100 per shot with buffs and only miss on a 1 with the last shot. With the right levels of the prestige classes, an 80 point arrow with a x5 critical...I could not only hit him, but with a perfect round (5 crits of 400+ each), I could kill him before he even gets an attack off. Bring on the great wyrm, this one is weak.

The Force Dragon has 64 natural AC, and 22 deflection. In theory, it could add haste, Epic Mage Armor, etc, etc to its AC as well.
I have the means around that armor thing: Essential Blade, from Relics & Rituals II: Lost Lore (pg. 112). With this spell cast upon a melee weapon, the wielder ignores the Force Dragon's armor/natural armor bonuses for the duration.

Actually, we need someting with +78 to hit that does not utilize a single magic item or spell. Because we can assume that the dragon will have stuff to balance out everything that the PCs throw at him. PC has a +58674856 luck bonus to Attacks? The dragon has a +58674856 luck bonus to AC.
Oh, and don't forget the dragon can take Armor Skin like 20 times, for an additional +40 AC.

man, we need some BADDers in here.

Deep Impact, Fell Shot, and Unavoidable Strike do the same thing. They make attacks touch attacks. And can't be counterspelled, since they're feats. [psionic feats, remember those things?] So, all you really need is a 6th level Psion.
