Is the Sorceror as bad as I think?

However, there is no indication that it reduces scribing time. For a possible fix to that problem, check the Amauneunsis spell from Magic of Faerun.

Nitpick: Amanuensis.

I hope that was sarcasm... *laugh*

Our party's sorceror is all about Enchantments... the few that there are. Chr 18, with Spell Focus: Enchantment, plus various charms and suggestions *prevents* a lot of fights... throw in Alter Self and you've got a one man super-spy agency. Which is what our slightly over-weight, highly personable Str 8 sorceror is all about.

Very scary.

Too true Chroma. Im playing a 10th lvl Sorc, now with Chr of 21, and a +2 Vest of Charisma, Spell Casting Prodigy feat, and an Empowered Eagles Splendor. So his DC are not bad. As the parties front man, (hes a cross between Clint Eastwood, Han Solo and Face from the A-Team) his Bluff, Diplomacy, Disquise, Polymorph and Charm whatevers, there isnt much he cant get out of NPC's. He is a great asset to the party, and we do fantastically when "negiotating" the sale of our loot once 'Ported back to Waterdeep! I advise Prest Clsing in Order of the White Robe (Tomb & Blood) to get the Spellpool access, giving you heaps of swift spell, with loads of slots to play with!! ;)

Honestly, I was very Jazzed when I first saw the Sorc, less so when I tried playing one. All the pros/cons have been dealt with from a Player's Point of view.
from a DM's point of view, Sorcs are very cool badguys.

Let's face it, unless it's a recuring Villain that the DM has an 'escape door' for, most enemy mages will get blasted in one encounter.

The limited and reusable spells are just what an NPC heavy hitter need "What!?! He just threw a THIRD FIREBALL!?!?!?!? Gods!!!"

He also keeps PC Wizards from gathering a million spells in his collection from acquired Spellbooks.
I got rather tired of the Wizard in the group that I ran grinning from ear to ear at the 'spellbooks, oh, the spellbooks...'

I like there to be something fr the Wizards in the party to want and not immediately have 'What was THAT that he cast, I need that!' begin frantic Wizard researching....makes for a cool RPing hook.
I use certain spells from non WoTC sources as 'Wild magic', Sorcs can get them, but a Wizard has to find them/research them somewhere. Sure it may occur in those wacky dragon-blooded, but they didnt exactly take the time to write everything down for the 'Arcanally Challenged' Wizards.

Just my 2 CP worth
