Is the Spiked Chain really a Two-Handed Melee Weapon?

And is it just me or did improved trip change from 3.0 to 3.5?

I don't think so, but in 3.0 you didn't suffer an AoO for standing up from prone so Tripping in general got much stronger thanks to that change.

The reach is doubled if you have enlarge cast on you ? Spiked Chain wielder goes to 15 or 20 reach ?

Overall I think the spiked chain is more versatile than powerful... proper munchkinism with it requires many feats and Fighters seem to relish having more "common" and damage dealing weapons. Rogues certainly seem a good class to have spiked chains (I have seen more rogues using spiked chain than fighters) but lack the number of feats necessary.

I'm really interested to hear from anyone who has taken EWP SC for a monk in 3.5E.

It seems to me that a monk who took Combat Reflexes as their bonus 2nd level feat and then is required to take either Improved Disarm or Improved Trip, would be a good candidate for the spiked chain.

I second the sentiment, Legildur. I've made that very Monk (Combat Reflexes, Improved Trip, EWP-Spiked Chain, Power Attack) to square off against my players, and I'm curious to see whether he's overpowered or what. Mostly I expect him to serve as a wake-up call as to what sorts of things are possible now that the party is "mid-level".

My impression is that he's going to be mostly a novelty unless Enlarge Person is cast on him, and then he's going to be very challenging.

For Rashak Mani -
PHB (top of p113) is where they discuss the reach of Large size weapons.

"Most reach weapons described in this chapter double the wielder's natural reach"

"A typical Large character wielding a reach weapon of the appopriate size can attack a creature 15 or 20 feet away, but not adjacent creatures or creatures up to 10 feet away"
