D&D (2024) Is There A New Sheriff in Town?

This is a situation where what I want to be true just won't be. I'd love for Daggerheart to explode onto the scene and take the rpg world by storm but D&D is a brand. Its the “xerox” or “scotch tape” or “google” of the gaming world. People just know the brand. Now I think it will grow, especially with sound management, but run the show? Unlikely.

Ha ya know, it'd be funny and basically impossible in this case, but certain trademarks can be endangered from too much success...

I don't have an issue with the idea, but I am just not seeing Daggerheart as that product. It just seems a bit "meh" to me.

What ever happened to Matt C's new game? I list interest when I discovered there would be no to hit roll. Is that game out yet?

Draw Steel.

IMO we may never see that game and even if MCDM does deliver, it won't even have the impact Shadowdark has.

Draw Steel will be out this summer and will definitely be delivered!

I've been playing in a Daggerheart game and it's a lot of fun. We've been thoroughly enjoying the no set initiative system. Keeps everyone engaged and opens up tactic options. It can be played in a very cooperative narrative way, or more traditional. The hope/fear tokens work on own if no one has any particular narrative boons or complications to add.
