D&D General Is there a recommended abilty score array for each class?

Well, that was fun

I need this for a little web app I'm making. While players can use the usual abilty score methods, I also want to include a single recommended array for each class to help them out.

(Yes, I realise there are multiple possible builds; I'm just looking for a 'common' suggestion)

Is there such a thing on the web? My goog-fu fails me?

I haven't seen one before, but I don't think it would be too hard to put something together using the 5e standard 15,14,13,12,10,8 array.

Assuming Str, Dex, Con, Int, Wis, Cha order:

Barbarian: 15, 13, 14, 8, 12, 10
Bard: 8, 14, 13, 10, 12, 15
Cleric: 10, 14, 13, 8, 15, 12 or 14, 10, 13, 8, 15, 12 depending on subclass. (Cleric is challenging, as I think it's the only class that toggles between medium and heavy armor based on subclass.)
Druid: 8, 14, 13, 10, 15, 12
Fighter: 15, 12, 14, 8, 13, 10
Monk: 12, 15, 13, 8, 14, 10
Paladin: 15, 8, 13, 10, 12, 14
Ranger: 12, 15, 14, 8, 13, 10
Rogue: 8, 15, 14, 10, 13, 12
Sorcerer: 8, 13, 14, 10, 12, 15
Warlock: 8, 14, 13, 10, 12, 15
Wizard: 8, 13, 14, 15, 12, 10

I'd have to look at the LU specific classes again to figure those out.

Cleric: 8, 14, 13, 10, 15, 12 or 14, 8, 13, 10, 15, 12, I belive that cleric would be better with 10 Int rather than 10 in non-primary str or dex for Religion, History and Arcana.

Ranger: 10, 15, 14, 12, 13, 8, Ranger as typical outlander could get away with 8 Cha, and Int is valuable for a ranger: Nature, Investigation

As a general rule, 15 in whatever your most-important stat is, 14 (if you can afford it) in whatever your second-most-important stat is, and then a loose priority system from there.

Charisma and Intelligence are generally dump stats if they aren't one of your primary stats, because other people can take care of those issues if you don't need to (especially since only Wizard and Artificer need Int.) Strength is a lesser but still valid dump stat because carry weight can be distributed across the party.

Constitution should never be a dump stat, because HP is too important. Likewise, Wisdom is a really bad idea to dump because you'll be weak to mind control and the like. Dexterity is complicated, in that if you go for Strength you can deal with most of the issues (other than crappy Initiative) through gear, but as a general rule it's a bad idea to dump Dex if you don't need to.

These patterns give us the following general patterns before racial ability bonuses:
15/14/14/12/8/8 - Best when you have two stats (e.g. Int and Cha) you can just completely dump and not care.
15/15/13/12/8/8 - Same as the above, but for characters who get +1 to three stats instead of +2/+1.
15/14/14/10/10/8 - Best if you want to specialize while still avoiding negatives.
15/14/13/12/10/8 - Good choice if there's a half-feat you're interested in picking up that can boost that 13 to a 14, mitigates lots of penalties.
15/12/12/12/12/10 - If you absolutely, positively must have neutral modifiers, this is your best bet.
15/13/13/13/11/8 - Good choice for standard humans hoping to exploit that bonus to all stats.

As for the primary/secondary/tertiary stats for the various classes, my choices would be...

Artificer: Intelligence, Dexterity, Constitution
Barbarian: Strength, Constitution, Dexterity
Bard: Charisma, Dexterity, Constitution
Cleric: Wisdom, Strength, Constitution
Druid: Wisdom, Dexterity, Constitution
Fighter: Strength OR Dexterity, Constitution, the one you didn't choose first (Dex or Str)
Monk: Wisdom, Dexterity, Constitution
Paladin: Charisma, Strength, Constitution
Rogue: Dexterity, Charisma, Constitution OR Wisdom (Con for more combat focus, Wis for intrigue/stealth focus)
Sorcerer: Charisma, Constitution, Dexterity
Warlock: Charisma, Dexterity, Constitution OR Intelligence (Con for more combat focus, Int for skill/ritual focus)
Wizard: Intelligence, Dexterity, Constitution

As you can see, Dex is almost always the 2nd or 3rd most important stat for most characters, and Constitution is usually the other. It's generally helpful for every party to have at least one character with Charisma, Intelligence, Strength, and Wisdom as a primary or secondary stat. Everyone likes Constitution and Dexterity is so common that most groups can fill that niche in a distributed way if they don't have a Rogue/Bard filling it.

My preference is to put 16 in whatever the class’s primary ability score is, 14 in whatever the class’s secondary ability score is, 14 in Constitution, 8 in a dump stat (almost always either Strength or Intelligence), and 12s in the two remaining stats (after starting ASIs, obviously)

from 2014, about 90% of characters that I have seen had 14 in Con. Rest was split between 12&16.
Currently playing in two campaigns, 9 characters total, 8 have 14 Con, one has 16.

if they deleted the stat and give everyone +2 HP per level and merge Con saves into STR no one would have noticed that Con is deleted.
