D&D General Is there any link between chaos and creativity

Creativity that does not fit in with the party, and/or breaks rules is what we consider creative.

Surprise is a strong element of humor. So, as long as other players/DM appreciate the surprise, chaos can be a positive input and will be considered creative.

The chaotic behavior can also be considered disruptive in a negative sense.

I'm hoping this is what the OP hopes to discuss. If not, then please be a good lawful forum-dweller and explain yourself a little better. ;)

I think this link only makes sense for folks who wish to decouple alignment from morality/ethics. "No, see, the bartender's not chaotic, he just seeks creative solutions to problems, and sometimes those solutions lie outside of social norms, and (long, overwrought list of qualifying statements). So anyway, he's totally not chaotic."

But why would you want to use a hundred words to describe an NPCs predilections and motivations, when two will suffice?

Why do you need anything to describe a bartender? They tend bar, their ethical code isn't going to arise. Following Gygax, the vast majority of normal human bartenders would be neutral anyway.

Yes, exactly. This is something that folks who wish to decouple alignment from morality/ethics would write.
