is there anything good to do with rogue/bard

I'm trying to find a good character concept with a bard/rogue combo and would like some advices from you. Does anybody has any experience with such character? What is the value/strength and weakness of such character in a group?

Thanks.

I don't know that there's anything really unique about this class combo. It really does just fall in between the bard (on the magical end) and the social-skill rogue (on the skills-based end) in terms of function, shading somewhere in between. The only wrinkle is that you can sometimes use your bard abilities and spells to set up sneak attacks, but I think that's a relatively minor point.

This is a much underrated combo.

Most of the Bardic song abilities are tied directly to ranks of Perform. Read them carefully. Therefore a Roguen/Bard1 gets access to these interesting abilities while never taking another level of Bard again!

This works very well for a scout/faceman who has little interest mixing it up in melee. Inspire Greatness is a very powerful mid-level ability.

The Bard spell list will give you access to a lot of wands and scrolls. Another person with a wand of CLW will help the party a lot. Do note that even though a 1st level bard cannot cast a 1st level spell himself, he can read a 1st level scroll scribed by a wizard with 100% success. He can read a 2nd level spell from a wizard scroll with 90% success. That is very handy in an emergency.

One of our party members plays a rog/brd.

He's been extremely useful in all aspects, but combat. We recently found that "monster summoning x" changed this.

Of course its great for sneak attacks, but by opting to summon more lower level creatures, and buffing them with his music...

Thank you...

For those of you who are like me and loved multi-classing, I just bought a new book from BadAxe Games names Heroes of high favor Half-orcs, which contains everything for orcs. Where it is different from other is that we can find new PRCs which involve multi-classing. Every combo with the prefered class are included. There is the same kind of book for dwarf also but haven't found it yet.

I hope this information will help some of you.

see ya

Rogue x/Bard 1 ... Can use all the wands which have spells in Bard's spell spell list. Can use higher level Bardic music just by taking ranks of Perform skill, but only once per day.

Rogue 1/Bard X ... Basically, a Bard. But he can find magical traps, and can disarm traps. So with appropriate skills, he can double as a rogue in dungeons.

Rogue x/Bard x ... Hmmmm... Very Jack of All Trade type character. I wonder if it does good or not.

My favorite is Rogue 1/Bard X.

My favourite would be something along the line Rogue2X/Bard1X
(where X ranges from 1...6 before using Epic Levels))
Concentrate on social skills, cast some simple spells, and if you really want, you can still make the trap-searcher...

You can make a good seducer with this, I think. (Imagine you tell a woman a story - via Perfom(Storytelling), and use the fascinate ability. Surprise her with some Pick Pockets tricks and so on. If everything fails, use Charm Person or Suggestion)
I don`t know if this character would be powerful, but he seems to be fun.
For PRCs, consider the Spymaster...

I personally never thought the bard as it is written in the PHB is any good really. Monte's bard doesn't look all that bad though from the book of eldritch might 2.

The strength of the Rogue/Bard is that both Perform and Use Magic Device are class skills for both. I would caution against only taking one level of bard, though. That would allow you to only use your bardic music once per day. Take maybe four levels of bard so you can get some second level spells. The inspire courage ability is probably the most often useful bardic ability. The more people you have fighting, the more powerful the bard is going to be for a party.
