Is there no love for d20 modern?

But it doesn't HAVE to be!

In my upcoming product: Slightly Orthodox Anvils, I'll detail fifteen Ordinary-classed Anvils for d20M games, a Fighter7 Anvil, Anvildor: God of Anvils, Das Anvil the Paragon Anvil, and a dozen magical spells relating to anvils.

In d20, it don't have to be yo' daddy's anvil!

Wow....Simply wow.

Back to the original question, though.

Yes, there is some love for d20 Modern. I've got me some serious love for it.

keeping track of such things can be handled by a self calculating spreadsheet that can be whipped up in minutes.
What is this word. . . spread. . . sheet? Is that some sort of joke that would offend Eric's Grandma? :)

Wouldn't a spreadsheet require a computer? You know how many computers are present in my game?

0

Yep. None. My group would have to keep track of it the old-fashioned way. And even if there were computers present, I don't think any of us know anything about spreadsheets.

Screw that.

I like my Wealth check (or Resource check in the old MSHRPG).

I SHOULD have been saying "Lethal/non-Lethal Damage".
Yeah, that's what you should have been saying. Uh uh.

As for handguns...2d4 damage flat...sorry, but no. (snip)
No, it's not 8. It's 16. Critical hit. Really, what game were you playing? Cause you can't judge a game by playing it butchered with bad house rules. Well, I guess you can, but it's an uninformed criticism.

The note about the bleeding missing arm comes from
not the rules in d20 Modern.

Even given the two misses I should have been DEAD!
Yeah, cause like, guns are the super deadly ninja auto kill weapons. The human form is pretty resilient, and can take a lot of punishment, depending on the circumstances. You do realize people have survived multiple gun shots, right?

But just because I wrote a different combat system is absolutely no reason to think my arguments are without merit
You're right, that's not the reason to think your arguments are without merit. Your arguments are the reason to think your arguments are lacking merit.

BTW, Hi Strut. Nice to have you back. My online experience has been lacking humor since you I haven't seen you around. This description of a session and your complaints. . . well, that brought a smile to my face.

Also: handguns kill people every day.
Yep. And everyday, lots of people get shot, and not only do they _live_, but they recover. Sometimes, people don't even drop when shot. Amazing isn't it?

and been belittled and browbeaten for the sin of having a differing opinion.
Ahhh, see, that's what I was missing. The would-be self-martyrdom. It's nt the sin of having a different opinion that gets people on you (and really, they've been terribly nice in this thread). It's you misrepresenting and getting called on it.

Seriously dude. I'm pretty sure that you've got good ideas locked up in your head. I've seen you in threads where you didn't rely on your standard tactics, and actually contributed, and I've seen the potential for good things.

If your ideas are good, and I think they might be, let them stand on their own man. Be a stand up guy and present your opinions straight, without the misrepresentation and pre-generated drama and conflict.

You might be surprised.

And at this point I'm going to have to bow out of this topic. I've given my advice, said my peace, argued my points - and been belittled and browbeaten for the sin of having a differing opinion. Heck people, this was the reason I stopped coming to these boards years ago, and now I'm thinking of ditching the place again.

Shame upon you all for hurting this man's feelings, after he raised serious questions about vitality points and sawing off your own arm by accident. Shame, I say.

I sure like me that d20 Modern. I've given some thought, though, to trying vitality points or a damage save. As a stopgap, I try to make it clear that in my game, not every "hit" [successful attack resulting in hit point loss] is a "hit" [actually making contact in-game]. Since hit points represent abstract stuff like luck and stamina among other stuff, it's sometimes just sounds better to say that that bullet which only did 1 point of damage was a near-miss, rather than a graze. A little dramatic license on the GMs part can really help, especially in a modern setting, where every player is a friggin expert on guns, martial arts, and what REALLY happens in a fistfight/firefight/Indian leg wrestling match.
