Is Wizards' team also reading this?

Most Game Designers these days seem to have clever software that can pick up terms the are interested in (such as their names) and tell them its being used, so the way they consume forums is very different to the past.

I really hope they are not leaning too heavily on the wotc forum feedback. I think it is going to skew their impression of the reaction in a very bad way. The WOTC forum is not at all in sinc with the other rpg forums.

Thank you everyone for your replies, I am glad to know they are also checking this website (where, I definitively agree, discussions take place in a polite and civil manner).
I am concerned by the fact the WotC forums seem not to be the place where a similar open minded confrontation is likely to happen (the trolling and flaming metaphore just gets it right, btw :D)
So, mearls, keep going like this please

Although WotC people are not as active here as they have been at times in the past, I wouldn't be surprised if they are still reading (or at least skimming) threads and topics - it's a useful way of keeping the pulse of a wider D&D group.

Regards

Just quoting this particular one because it is on of many in this thread.

We don't want to get to the point of bashing other forums, please. The odd recognition that people prefer it here or find it hard to have a conversation there is OK, but no dog-piling on them please.

Thanks

We're definitely paying attention to the feedback here, the wizards community, other fansites/forums, blogs, twitter, facebook, google+, and more. It is interesting how different social groups are responding differently, but not really surprising :)

While we are looking at feedback everywhere and working it down to all the concentrated kernels that i can pass up to the rest of the company, those surveys are really one of the best feedback loops we have. So please, please, please make sure you've signed up for the playtest through the webpage so we can send out those surveys directly to you!

Hey Trevor, question for you about feedback from personal blogs. As long as we don't post details from the actual materials I am guessing that it is ok to comment about the feel and elements we like/dislike/are uncertain of?

You can write and share thoughts on your playtest experience as long as you're not quoting the text or hosting up portions of the entirety of the playtest packet.

So if you wanted to talk about a creature for example, you could name it, say that it had a cool power that moved people around or something like that, but you wouldn't want to quote the power verbatim. You could then talk about the tactics you guys used in the fight against the monster, talking about the spells/abilities you used and generally what they did, but again, don't get so specific you're describing the mechanics straight out of the packet.

Make sense?
