It didn't take long Sunless Citadel in NWN

Without giving any information about where to find them (although they're not hard to find), it seems that there are now at least 4 different versions of 'Sunless Citadel' available--one of which has been downloaded over 3000 times in the last couple of days. It seems to me that this is a perfectly natural progression in the development of NWN--the translation of certain canonical texts into a new language, not unlike the missionaries going out to translate the Bible into the language spoken by a newly discovered trible--of course 'Sunless Citadel' is much less violent.

I now notice that you can actually get the 'Sunless Citadel' on Bioware's own site. (notice that I didn't give an actual URL, you still have to look to it). It appears that even Bioware isn't particularly concerned about PnP conversion, especially considering that it's the #6 highest rated module. And a conversion of G2--The Glacial RIft of the Frost Giant Jarl, is #7.

In interest of full disclosure, they do say that 'Bioware takes no responsibility for the use of these modules' but still...

I would hardly say Bioware is unconcerned. I'm sure that they've had long talks with WotC folk about it. The thing is, there's nothing they can really do to stop it. If WotC asks, I'm sure Bioware (and NWN Vault, where the lists are from) would stop providing these modules in a heartbeat. But that doesn't stop the creation of these modules. So why bother not to host them if WotC doesn't say anything about it?

WotC has said no to converting official modules. It's up to each webmaster to decide if they want to host them. And the truth is, we won't know which way WotC will really go until they demonstrate a clear course of action, be that asking sites not to host unofficial converstions or completely ignoring it.

Bioware's site

Also, something you probably didn't know, Bioware doesn't make that list. That list of modules for download is pulled in from NWValt.com's website. Just something they are trying to do to build up their own community site.

I suspect that Wotc isn't really concerned with conversions of products unless it starts getting into a money issue (such as someone charging for a NWN version of Forge of Fury). Fan created endeavors probably aren't something that Wotc will be bothered with out of concern for bad publicity. But that is strictly my opinion...

Not software related really, but I know of at least two sites that WotC shut down for posting their IP stuff (one was 3e material, the other was older material from 2e).

WOTC is not going to stop this at all..they are probably going to encourage by not saying anything so the sales of NWN will continue to rise. It makes logical sense as WOTC is getting revenue from BW for each sale and gathering an interest in D&D in the process...
