I've been thinking about item creation feats after reading the post on staves (sorry, can't link), and came out with this idea on how to make all item creation feats more distinctive, and staffs more worthwhile.
Craft Scroll - as Scribe Scroll.
Craft Wand - as is, perhaps change price to spell level x caster level x 1,000.
Craft Rod - prerequisite Craft Wand, works the same except any spell level is allowed.
Craft Staff - prerequisite Craft Scroll. spell completion (like scroll) to make casting powerful spells interesting, possibly with Command Word added (at creator's whim). Base price is spell level squared x 500. Allows casting the spell 1/day, but also allows you to burn spell slots to cast it spontanously - thus useful for wizards who want the sorcerer's flexibility, or as effectively more Known Spells for sorcerers.
Craft Wonderous Item - allow various bonuses (SR, resistance, ability enhancement, etc.) as Use-Activated, and 1/day spells at spell level x caster level x 1,800 (2,000?) x times per day/ 5. Does NOT allow casting spells based on charges, or at will, or continously, or bonus spells, or enhancement bonuses to armor, shields, and weapons, and so on.
Craft Ring - allow only 7th level or more powerful spells; spells work continuously (or at will?). Base price is spell level x caster level x 1,000.
Craft Arms and Armor - as is. Emphasise only this feat can bestow enhancement bonuses to weapons, armor, or shields.
