Out of all the systems I own, I prefer to run nWoD, but currently don't have a group for that. I am currently running and prefer 4e to v3.5 for D&D.

And yes, I am that poster. I've talked with 40 local DMs and they all said they preferred to run 4e over v3.5. Now, only about 1/4 is currently running D&D, the rest do other games (nWoD, Call of Cthulhu, and Savage Worlds being the other big 4). I admit, my sample very possibly biased (Central Michigan© area). It why I am curious on if this is a regional gamer culture thing, or a group based gamer culture thing.

I much prefer DMing 4E to 3.5 at high levels. Lower levels, I still prefer 4E but the gap isn't as wide; no plans to DM older editions (though I have). I'll be a PC in either (or most other systems). And I'll run Paranoia once in a while just for fun.

While I'm currently content, I'll have a look at Pathfinder when it comes out. Don't have any plans to DM it, but I might if I like it.

Two very good points brought up in peoples' responses:

1. Yeah, I should have made this a "multiple option" poll. Agreed, and oops :o.

2. I should also have made it a requirement that people have dmed other systems as well. Any results will skew toward 4e now (as someone may have only dmed 4e, so OF COURSE they prefer it!!!).

Still, the poll is looking as I expected it to so far. Most people who have DMed 4e prefer it to other systems (whether they've dmed those others or not).

But also, there are a sizable percentage of people who dmed 4e and still prefer dming 3e (so while 4e might be a better dming experience for MOST, it's not better for ALL).

No question, 4e. It takes a fraction of the time any other edition took for me to plan a session. With the DDi, I have so much more at my fingertips when planning, as well.

I'll never DM an older edition of D&D again. As far as other games, I've only ever DM'd one game of Sorcerer the rpg, so I'm not much into different systems.

I picked 4e, but I also could have picked "Other Systems."

I DM several RPGs, because no single RPG can scratch all my gaming itches at once. Right now, I'm DMing 4e, 1e, and (soon) Call of Cthulhu d20, which I've also run before. In the past year or two, I've also run 3.5e, WFRP2e and SWSE.

I'm in no hurry to DM a normal 3e game again anytime soon, but I'd certainly play in one. I burned out while making encounters and NPCs for an Arcana Evolved game... I also think I'd need to houserule SWSE fairly extensively to be happy running it, right now. Specifically, I'd want a large overhaul of the Force rules so that it's no longer a skill check; and I'd want to implement the 4e combat actions system in some respect.
