Ivid the Undying

I dunno if this has been brought up before, but what are the chances of seeing this printed? I've seen some "unofficial" copies kicking around and it is amazing. Thing is you can just use these unofficial copies if you want, but it references maps that never got made. The maps would really be useful. I don't know how popular Greyhawk is, but it would be cool if this book could see the light of day. :)

Hi there! :)

I was gutted when T$R pulled the plug on this one after the brilliance of 'The Marklands' and 'Iuz the Evil'.

Another fantastic supplement from Carl Sargent who for me was one of the few good writers/designers working during the 2nd Edition 'dark ages'.

I agree with your assessment of Carl Sargent's work completely. Is he still in the industry somewhere?

true

Me too. For me, besides Gygax (and maybe moreso), Sargent is the definitive Greyhawk author. His stuff is treasured by those in my gaming group.

What is Carl Sargent up to nowadays?

[edited to make myself sound less silly :p ]

I just did a quick search of the web and it doesn't say much about the man. His most recent work seems to be a novel released in 2000 called Death's Dark Shadow. Before that it was a novel in '98 called The Enemy Within: Vol 4. For the most part he seems to have stopped writing gaming supplements in the mid-90's. :(

Anyone have any other info on Mr. Sargent?

"What happend to Carl Sergeant?"

Its a question that's been asked before and there doesn't seem to be a concrete answer.

The last time somebody asked this question, somebody else answered with "He got out of the gaming industry because he thought he was wasting his life."

And yet somebody else thought he was dead.

The Truth is Out There...

But gosh darn it, I liked Carl Sergeant's works.

IIRC, Carl Sarget got in a very serious car accident in the mid-90's (not long before I started at TSR) and I think he's been largely unable to work and/or focusing on recovering from that.

Thanks for the info. I am very sorry to hear that. I wish the best for him.
