Jack Frost is teasing me

First Post
It's that time of year. Ah yes, it's all Fall. The leaves are all yellow-orange and falling off the trees.

However, it feels warm, too warm to be Fall. The temperature lately has been 60s. I am used to previous Winters* where the temperature quickly snaps from warm mid 70's to 50 and below cold overnight and stays there.

I should be happy. I am, I love walking around in short sleeves. However, I can know it's going to be short lived.

Anybody else having odd weather?

*for you Southern states that's the time when it starts snowing to when it all melts, regardless of the actual season.

Up here in Boston - current temp 49° F. Expected high for the day, 69° F.

Warm October days are not unusual for New England, however.

Our weather out here (California's Central Coast) is nice, year round.

In fact, I thought I would look and it seems over the course of a year our average temp is 65-82, which is probably why the natural answer to the question "how's the weather" is "70-something?".

Weather.com shows our average temp for the month of October to be 72...

...hard to complain ;)

---edit---

Looks like today we'll be at 84... 87 predicted for tomorrow

*whistles* That sounds mighty sweet.

Last few years of warmer than normal temperatures meant a very snowy winter.

I am still recovering from the snow of 2007-08. We almost beat our decade long drought.

After living in SoCal for 8 years, moving to Montreal was a bit ... different. :p

'07-'08 was a lot of snow, and it was warm (meaning it got above freezing a handful of days). Sadly, that just meant that (1) the snow crews couldn't keep up and therefore left the sidewalks untouched for a couple of months and (2) there was a nice layer of ice from refreezing on the sidewalks (yes, for a couple of months). I think it was Ambrus who had a post about falling and getting a concussion on the sidewalks here that year.

Currently, we are having highs near 50 on the warm days and around 40 on the cool days. This is my 4th fall here, and it seems a tad cool actually. We've already had snow twice, once enough to stick a little, which is definitely early by a week or so. Not that that means much for the winter, though; they seem to change in character quite a bit over the season.

Ah Canada - are you sure that's not completely frozen over yet? :D

I kid, I kid.

Utah is pretty cold, but nothing like Minnesota or other states along the border. We do frequently have freezing/thawing, however. That destroy roads among other things.

Hey, I still have an ultimate frisbee league championship game tonight, so it can't be that cold! :p

More seriously, I don't really know how our weather compares to the coldest places in the States. It's possibly colder in places like Fargo.
