Honestly, I think Morrus put it best above, when he was talking about the various signifiers of James Bond.
There's a reason we keep having long threads arguing about the essence of Bond, and not long threads talking about the essence of Mission Impossible. Even the people who say they don't care about Bond are here in the weeds talking about it. It's a cultural touchpoint.

i just meant the "Bond without being Bond"
The martini** is also a Bond signifier. It's hard to imagine him drinking anything else, even though he does (everything from frequently drinking champagne, to a mint julep in Goldfinger). But this is a Bond movie signifier- in the books, he was a heavy drinker, but his drink of choice was scotch and soda. Followed by "more."

**I will call it that, even thought it's just a VODKA COCKTAIL. Real martinis are made with gin. And yes, I will die on that hill.

He also drinks Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, which I tasted on location a few years ago. Excellent earthy coffee. The Blue Mountain bike ride was well worth it.

The Spy Who Loved Coffee:

I guess I'm unusual for liking MI and Bond...and I'm not particularly a huge action fan. But the MI movies started getting really good with 3, great with 4-6, including some of the best actions scenes I've ever seen. 7 was a bit of a drop-off but still really good; haven't seen 8 yet.

I loved Craig as Bond because he was "off-center," but it still worked. Pierce Brosnan was perhaps the most prototypical Bond but also the mostly boring, imo. But Casino Royale and Skyfall are both among the very best Bond films...the other three not so much, but all good enough to be middle of the pack.

Anyhow, here's the latest rumor: What’s Next for Denis Villeneuve’s Bond Movie? Amazon’s Wishlist Includes Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland and Harris Dickinson

Tom Holland would be absurd. Please don't. Jason Elordi could be interesting, in a Zennial throwback macho-with-deep-emotions heart-throbby sort of way. Don't know Harris Dickinson.

I don't know, I can kind of see it working eventually. Parkouring Bond!
