I had a very strong group of nine. Ember Life Cleric 8 Human. Liu Feng (Luo) Elemental monk 8 Aasimar. Zephron Starwarden twilight cleric 8. Philip way of the moon druid 8 Tiefling. Geromino Path of the Wild Barbarian 8 Half-orc. Ares fighter 5. Ilela druid 9 Human. Leeanna Wizard 5 human. Roland rogue 5 human.

Welcome Ilela, Roland, and Leeanna to adventure league.

The winter snow has started to fall as the group leaves the council house. They getting free horses tomorrow. Philip hits the college bars to get a little dizzy. Ember gets passes on companionship. Ares ignores Liu Fang and drinks seven beers, one over his limit. Ilela just finds a bed.

Big Jane grabs Liu from behind in a smelly hug, “I want to have your babies. Marry me. I have a cleric just down the street. And we make big, sweaty….”

Liu Fang, “Looks it Mr. Wigham.” He dashes out the bar, turns a corner, grabs Geronimo’s mead and keeps going. Big Jane gives chase but Geronimo distracts her tell her Marvin is at the Dew Drop Inn.

Zephron is approached by some of fellow worshippers. During the combat the head of their local church got killed. So, they are asking him to take over. He replies after the cultists are destroyed.

The other two stay at the inn and knit. Leeanna, “That is crocheting!”

The morning breaks and they find their way to the temple of Eternal Flame. They sneak toward the front entrance when Liu notices the side entrance and goes that way. Which is good, because a goblin was sent out to see what some of the noise was and just missed the adventurers as they turned the corner.

Roland pops the lock on the secret tunnel. Frack, they got me writing it. The secret door opens to second in command room.

Bastain Thermandar, “Frak. How the Frack do they keep finding the leaders and a cascade fight each time they enter a new temple. We who about to die. Frack. Liu no wediges or noogies. DM. the pcs are being mean to me.” After most of the group pound the leader number two into the dirt, Ilela opens the door to barracks and sic’s Liu on the poker table while she walls of flame the rear group.

The guards are taking pounding when the fire priests come out their dorm room and start laying down fireballs. After five fire balls, most of the guards are down and three new pcs are down. Mr. Happy skateboards onto the battle map. “ I am so happy. Three kills in one. FRACK!”

Ember, “Divine Heal. I heal you Ares. I Heal Leeanna. And I slightly heal Roland.” The pcs stand up and take their revenge. Leeanna empties her Glock of Magic Missiles into Hobgoblin came who just came into the battle. Ares finishes off the second guard. And Roland takes out a fire priest. Another round and the group is done.

Take a short rest. We will pick this up in the Bastian room (E6).

With three new people and 9 at the table. I can see the next few sessions are going to be interesting. i WILL try to get them hooked into my beyond account to make things easier. I also need to print off some 5th level pre gens.

Magic Items +1 shield with clock imbedded, potion of water breathing, dust of disappearance, potion of extra healing, potion of diminution, scroll of Melf’s minute meteors, scroll of wall of sand.

I had a strong group of sox. Liu Feng (Luo) Elemental monk 9 Aasimar. Zephron Starwarden twilight cleric 9. Philip way of the moon druid 9 Tiefling. Geromino Path of the Wild Barbarian 9 Half-orc. Ares eldritch Knight 9 human. Mirelle college of Whispers 9 bard fairy.

After eating the left-over breakfast of the second in command. The group moves into the main hallway. To their right is sounds of a mighty forge at work with its staff. On the left back toward the entrance, and across the way a row of doors looking like Motel 6.

The group kicks open the two doors to Motel 6. Waking Lill and Dil. The fireball cooking off wakes up Philip and Chuckie. How combat does not go well for the foursome and they are quickly killed off.

Mirelle, “My mind to your mind. Your face to my face. I cast Mantle of Whispers. I am now Phillip.”

Phillip, “Hey.”

Mirelle, “Okay Evil Philip.” The DM looks hastily at the ability. Frack.

Bill, “hey Phillip. Here to torture me again?” asked the Azer as Liu Feng opens the door. With some smooth taking, and lots of persuasion checks. The group not only releases the prisoners of four salamanders, and eight azer, but they gang them as allies.

Monster Manual, “Um DM, the monsters and party don’t have any common language.”

Book, “Specific beats General. B.”

DM, “Don’t make me separate you.” With the temporary knowledge of map, and NPCs, the group decides to travel through the lava chasm. Taking 100% of 6d10. How about 50%. Um 25%.

The valid group takes some heat damage and bunches up in the intersection before the boss. Minions call for alarm and a few seconds pass as all four ways are covered and the big battle begins. Giant Salamander blocks the boss in while cultists, cult fanatics, hobgoblin captains, and Vanfier fight the horde. But time runs out for them and they all die.

Still using the mantle, Mirelle talks the rest of the dungeon into giving up their magic items but keeping their gold and lives. And thus, the group conquers chapter 4.

DM Notes. Not much of write today people. I got a late start, and the trees defeated me today.

We will pick this up in Liu Feng’s hot tub.

This became a meat grinder for two reasons. I missed the azer and salamander in cell block wouldn't work together. The placement of their allies was problem too. Almost everyone want to act on round one, so they blocked each other and allies from getting into room 25. I did bump the mage to archmage but all it did was to take Liu fang out combat as he use the boss as a punching bag.
I did call the fight in their favor as we hit the 15 minutes until closing bell and I did not want to carry the fight over.

Story Award Touched. You had a nice flashback which turned into a nightmare.

I had a strong group of six. Liu Feng (Luo) Elemental monk 10 Aasimar. Zephron Starwarden twilight cleric 10. Philip way of the moon druid 10 Tiefling. Geromino Path of the Wild Barbarian10 Half-orc. Ilela Star Druid 10 human. Robert wizard 10 goliath.

Haeleeya is toweling Liu off as he comes out the hot bubble bath when he notices someone spying on them across the street. Grabbing the towel and wrapping around his waist he dashes out into the snow but the spy was not there.

Haeleeya, “What do you mean I have to move to Waterdeep. We just got set up Amphail. By next year we will be making bank. I am currently clearing five silver pieces in profit. By next year it will be ten per ten-day. And it will cost 22 GP 5 SP over and above what is in the bank to move.”

Liu Fang, “Here is a 100 GP. The cults are watching. They will never attack Waterdeep. Start packing today. Crew out your tubs and on the road. We moving out for the water temple in one hour. Marvin quit playing with the soap.”

Marvin, “but it makes bubbles and slippery. Like.”

Geronimo, “By Gram Gram’s biscuits! Don’t Finish that thought.”

Arriving at the temple the weather has turn the dock into a skating ring. As Philip and Liu are inspecting the row boat, the undead ghouls crash through the ice nearly dumping Liu into the water. It takes seconds for the ghouls to go down but an hour to chip the boat out the ice.

As they are travelling in the underground river. (This encounter is brought to you by Zephron who rolled a 19.) A huge water elemental attacks the boat. Dumping Ilela, Philip, and Zephron into the water. It sucks Ilela down into the depths but wildshapes and spells take in out before much damage is done.

Liu, “What do you mean we have to take a leap of faith into the waterfall!”

Zephron, “What do you mean I can fly down the waterfall.”

Book, “You will be entering a transportation elemental node. Part of the security is the entrance tries to keep non-cultist out.”

Zephron, “I belly flop through the waterfall and into the small entrance pool. Frack water elements. Why the hell are most you dry?”

Lui, “Clean living.”

Philip, “We rolled high, you didn’t break 10. Poison Spray.” After a quick toweling off, the group is in the Fane of Eye. The temples have entrance nodes here to their pure elemental nodes. And they generally stay away from each other. The exploration of the water annex reveals Drexa lizard King. Who allies with Zephron and gives him two minions. They then take the plunge to the Plunging Torrents.

Most of them arrive on the landing of stairs. Liu misses and dives into the pool. At the bottom is an air bubble with a couch in it. Behind the waterfall is a punt boat. Liu examines the bubble which snatches him, ties a seatbelt around his waist and move quickly out the right passage way.

Group, “Blink. Blink.”

Philip, “hey he is leaving us. Follow me!”

Group, “Blink. Blink.”

Geromino, “Quick into the boat!” She leaps through the waterfall and onto the boat followed by Zephron and Ember. Ilela has shifted is baby shark and is trying to follow Liu.

Robert, “Blink. Blink. Couldn’t one you had just rolled the boat through the waterfall. I will wait here dry.”

The current flows left and right out the entrance hall. Being submarined through the right passage way, Liu cuts his seat belt and sees Philip in eel form following. See a cage through another passageway he investigates. In another room is a cage half submerged with four dead cultists and eight treading water.

Ilela bypasses Liu and goes into another passage way. She sees a summoning drum on a small island, and snacks on the foot of a headless corpse. She tries to pick the lock but sharks have no fingers.

The mostly dry group catches up with Liu. Liu rises up out the water and ignites his fire powers.

Liu, “Well here we are again. Guys shall we cut the chain and let them drown. Or leave them to their punishment.”

Cultist, “Frak, frack, frack. Hey Philip, you remember last week that I ran away after only doing 4 points of damage to you. Why don’t.” The cultist stops remembering what happen to other people who ticked off Liu. The group decides to leave them to their fate and moves on.

Liu drop kicks the summoning drum into the water. Baby shark girl, and eel guy takes up low cover under the boat and Germino rows on. The next room is cold. Six plus frost elementals are encasing humanoids in ice. Liu bluffs the one-eyed shiver in charge and order full rowing power.

Entering the throne room, they see a nice throne with a narwhal horn scepter. Ember casts detect magic and turns the water in the room into a divination pool. She sees a nice dock with a Kuo-toa waving a tentacle rod. Meanwhile Geromino has leaped out the boat and grabbed the horn. She blanks out. As two mounted wave knights arise out the water. One snatches Ember off the boat, into the water and heads north. The second grabs Zephron and heads south.

The north group dives deep into the water and into a small medium size tunnel which is fully under water. The south knight has not dived yet. But with only shark girl and eel boy having swimming speed, everyone is moving half speed. The party splits. Prisoner Ember, Liu and Ilela are being dragged north. The others to south.

The north group has trouble since they are fully underwater and in tight conditions but once they get to octopus’ lair the fight turns in their favor. Lots of punching and Spirt Guardians save the day.

The south group knight drags Zephron around two corners before he escapes. The knight switches target to Philip. Dragging Philip into the knight’s lair he calls for his two buddies to come help. Geronimo has finally caught up with the group and the two knights and two water weirds put Geronimo into a corner at the bottom of the cave. Zephron activates Spirit Guardians and dives deep which takes out the first bad guys. Geronimo is being dragged into the other room. But just before they turn the corner the party wins.

DMs Notes. Okay I was thinking of the old water breathing potion. The 2024 gives you 24 hours. Frak. Take a short rest. The torrents have gone to high alert but have not found you.

Tinderstrike location is on Liu’s belt. All others story weapons in Philip’s bag of holding.

Nat 20 by the dm in combat 8+. 6+ 20 on saves.

End of session 620.
 

The fight started with 2 water weirds and 2 dark tide knights. All are cr 3. The two reasons this fight lasted as long as it did is because the opening criticals. And me using the underwater terrain. I was rolling 17+ on saves for the first two rounds of combats. And yes I made adjustments since this suppose to be tier 3 combat.
