Jedi Light Sabre

First Post
Hi,

In pursuit of playing a Jedi Master in FRCS, I have encountered a possibility to simulate a Jedi Light Sabre Weapon. Thunderlance Spell from FRCS creates a staff made of force for a duration of a 1 round/level. I was thinking to cast that spell with Meta Magic Feat Persistency. This could allow my mage to draw his force weapon when needed (the weapon can be resized between 1 to 20 feet freely!) with a duration of 24 hours.

Now to trickery part: Can anyone verify if Extend and Persistency(Tome of Blod) Metamagic feats work with Thunderlance Spell?

Thanks

Thunderlance has a fixed range (0ft.), so it is useable with Persistant Spell feat. But it'll be a 10th level spell.

Thank you. So Persistence works. Now to part two!

I was going to use the spelldancer ability (level1) from Prc class Spelldancer(MoF) to persist a Thunderlance spell(FRCS) without level change. A fourth level spell with a duration of 24 hours. Is that ok according to your knowledge guys?

A Thunderlance with a melee range of 20 feet is quite a powerful weapon. Perfect for a wizard if he doesnt want to engage in direct frontal fights. I am more after the Jedi effects though :)

What is the new persistence rules? I thougt that persitance added 4 extra levels to the spell. Can anyone clarify?

Thanks

Why not just use brilliant energy weapon?

A brilliant energy weapon is kind of expensive and has not the same power and reach as the Thunderlance staff. The possibility of increasing and decreasing the size of the thunderlance is kind of Jedi like (I know it sounds corny but it is cool :) ). But you have a valid point about the brilliant energy weapons. It would be my second choice if a Persistent Spelldanced Thunderlance does not work.

A spelldancer at level 2 with con 18 should be able to pull the Persistance trick. If any of you gurus have no rule problem with this, I would love to try this Jedi :)

Thanks

Which has already been house ruled IMC...

How did you houserule it? I don't mind Persistent Spell for +4 spell levels if it increases the duration from round/level to minutes/level, minutes/level to 10 min/level and 10/min per level to hours... but otherwise I think it's crazy.

How do you do it?
