JLU: The Finale(s)

takyris

First Post
Just saw the two finale episodes (folks in the States: you'll know what I mean soon enough), and all I can say is... wow. Wow. Wow. Wow.

For radically different reasons, those two episodes felt like wonderful conclusions. I hope the series continues, but if it doesn't, that was a good ending.

Without going too deep into spoiler-land, I can say that I was immensely jazzed by the closure to the Cadmus stuff, and by the liberal use of material from earlier episodes this season, episodes from last season, and episodes of the Batman & Superman shows that gave rise to JLU. Really, really, really profoundly happy with that. Both episodes read like love letters to the fans, albeit different types of fans. Both worked for me in different ways.

Dang. Someday, I'll be able to get a reaction like that from my readers. Not today, but someday.

Question Authority

I just saw tonight's Cartoon Network episode ("Question Authority"). All I can say is Holy ****! I can't wait for next week.

RedShirt: Definitely. In my opinion, they just keep getting better -- although "Epilogue" will nto be to everyone's tastes, and I might have been disappointed had I not had a long week and watched the one I really consider the finale, followed by Epilogue. (That said, I enjoyed Epilogue a ton, and will probably go all fanboyish in defending the haters -- and there will almost definitely be haters.)

Again, without spoilers, they do a good job of dividing up the upcoming episodes so that you've got a good mix of "The Whole Big Team" and "The Big Seven", to make people who like both styles happy.

And the upcoming episodes also bring in some big payoffs for long-time viewers -- things that, as I mentioned, happened in previous seasons, or in the Batman & Superman series... I'm not saying it's Shakespeare, but these were clearly done by people who love what they're doing and had a Big Plan for this season -- and, in my opinion, followed through on that Big Plan with a big success. Good good stuff.

Both episodes were Incredible fantasic!!

Man I love the net, i downloaded and watched em both.

Divided We Fall was great, really great. Sometimes JLU can make you feel as if being a hero is routine, but that episode really felt heroic. Especially with flash.

Epilogue was just great. I really wish they'd start up Batman Beyond again, and start it with an Adult Terry.

Is this a season finale or a series finale. I hope it will return. I push to have my D&D game over intime to see Teen Titans and JLU. I've started watching The Batman again and changed my mind to I like it.

Is JLU coming back?

I guess I found the answer to my own question. So next question is will it be back in a new form?

What will take its place?

Amen to that. It completely made up (in my opinion) for having the Flash get short shrift this season, and for being the voice of goofiness over the entire series. Lots of folks got to mature or change -- Superman got a resolution to the Cadmus question (is he too powerful to really be good), GL and Hawkgirl got to at least come to terms with stuff, and Flash got to show that he really deserves his seat at the big table.

The bit with everyone saving him at the end... goofy as heck, but it still gave me goosebumps. It went right through unrealistic corniness and into the true emotion of the moment -- after all the infighting and sniping and self-questioning, they were there for each other at the end, when it all counted.

What is the answer and where did you find it?

Also any one have DVD news on JL and JLU. Like are they coming out in Volumes or by season?
And when will they be available?
