Sometimes the swift, direct works out best after all!
Actually, I'm not aware of any instance in which swift and direct isn't pretty much the best approach. More opportunities are lost through excessive caution than anything else.

Obviously swift and direct only works if you're actually pointed in the right direction to start with...

Which obviously Her Majesty was. Congratulations, Your Majesty. Well done.

Wow, that was like way too easy or something.....

So, what exactly is it you do?
I work for a company called Democracy, Data, and Communications (DDC). We organize and execute grass roots campaigns for clients ranging from WalMart, AARP, to Verizon for various purposes. The specifics are sort of lost on me since I am at the very bottom of the DDC chain.

The whole company employs a little over 150 people (growing very, very quickly)... there are some of us lucky enough to be called "Legislative Researchers".

Part of running and organizing the campaigns is having contact information for officials serving the public in the US government in one way or another. So, we have a large database of information about all individuals holding federal office - as well as most state officials (this is where I do most of my work).

Once every three months, every state in the union needs to be updated - the capitol and district offices for each federal and state representative and senator need to be confirmed - we need to search for "district" websites (not run by the government, but by the representative themselves). Once a month, we have the joy of calling every federal office of the senate and house to confirm all of their contact information via the phone!

It's pretty tedious - but as a young woman that is still working on her schooling, I couldn't dream of anything better. I pretty much get to set my own schedule (during the school year, I go into the office twice a week). And, in addition, I can work from home pretty much whenever I want because nearly all my work is done via the 'net.

It's - to bring back one of my favorite phrases from the 70's - totally cosmic, man.

Well, really... when don't I - the all powerful queen of dopplegangers - get my way? *tosses hair* ;)

Seriously, I don't know why I get so freaked out about stuff like this... I'm just a nervous worry wart. Keep telling myself that, because I was late that one time, maybe my boss is angry at me... when really, he probably didn't even know I was late.

*wipes the sweat from her brow* Phew! I love victory!**

**Not that the Queen sweats... that was metaphorical sweat... or something.

I once got a raise, well a few times actually but anyway one day I was working with the boss. Talking about life in general I said I couldn't really do too much do to the fact that I just had a lot of bills that month. He replied "What I don't pay you enough?" I said "Thats not it at all" nothing else was said. The next week I noticed a huge jump on my paycheck. I noticed that I had recieved a two dollar an hour raise. I went into his office and he just said
"Is that a little better for you" I was dumbfounded, thanks was all I could get out.
