John Doe Finale (Spoilers)

So this show is good?

I have the option of renting this series in my local geek video rental
and I've been somewhat interested. I've been meaning to ask
you guys about it, but I never remember to do so except when
I'm standing in front of the damn tapes.

Hello Viking Bastard! :D

I have watched it since the opening show, and having reviewed it for the last 8 episodes or so for www.scoopme.com, I would have to say it's quality is somewhere between "Buffy" and "CSI" - not the best-written show in the world, but a darned sight better than the majority of Television available in the U.S. My advice is to try a few episodes and see if it interests you.

I have found the quality was quite good in the first few shows, dropped dramatically toward the middle of the season, and has again picked back up in the last six episodes, particularly since they have picked up on the "Phoenix Group" storyline, and the quasi-mystical elements have been brought to the fore.

Go visit my reviews page over at the Scoopme site, and you will find reviews and episode synospes of the last eight shows or so.

(Alison Risso wrote the reviews before I did, and while I enjoyed her style and her reviews of other shows, she did not enjoy reviewing the show after the first two or three shows, and her dislike of the show is evident in her reviews.)

I hope it helps you decide to give it a try!

Couple Items.

1. Your link is broken. You have a comma in there by mistake.

2. Why are there very few plot synopsises done? Was Alison too busy wasting time with her snide comments because she didnt like to show so she was unable to put up a synopsis? It really was about time some knocked her off the review stand. Textural incontenance (her words) were more polite than her reviews deserved. Unless of course you like to read purile arrogance that you can practically see running down her nose at you.

Thanks. I fixed it.

First of all, having corresponded several times with Alison, I can say that she is a very nice person to work with, and does have a great ability for insight into a show.

Second of all, she wasn't "knocked off the review stand." She did not enjoy reviewing the show, and it showed in her column. I suggested that it really might not be worth her time reviewing a show that she couldn't get into, and she agreed. It was her decision as to whether to continue to review the show.

Third, regardless of what others may think of her prowess, she had more people responding to the columns's reviews than I certainly did. :)

Incidentally, for anyone interested, Scoopme has decided to close its doors after this season. This week's season wrap-up column will be the last column for me at that site. I'm saddened by it, because scoopme was one of the most insightful forums on the web for discussion of Buffy and Angel - Hunter Maxin and Josh Buckman could really nail the salient points of their respective shows. I'll miss reading them.

Unfortunately, I'm not privy to the "back-door" details, but from the official announcement, it has to do with either administrative or financial problems with running the site, or it stems from a decision to "move on" by the site originators, similar to Eric's decision in 2001 regarding his site.

The following link leads to the closing announcement:
