July '08: What are you reading?

Sandy Mitchell's Ciaphas Cain, Hero of the Imperium. It's an omnibus edition of the first three Ciaphas Cain novels for WH40K. I'm now halfway through the second book.

After that, I think I will return to Neal Stephenson and read The Diamond Age and Zodiac.

Fiction:

"Dragons of the Highlord Skies", by Weis and Hickman. It's okay, but no better than that.

Next up: Lankhmar, I think.

Gaming:

Pathfinder 10: "A History of Ashes". I haven't really started yet, but the previous volumes in this Adventure Path have been excellent, so I have high hopes for this one.

Next up: Castle Whiterock.

June was a very productive month, as far as reading was concerned, such that my piles of unread books are now quite reduced. I'm therefore on the lookout for recommendations.

Heldenhammer - Warhammer book about Sigmar by Graham McNeill about the rise of Sigmar. Entertaining thus far, and thankfully different, with an emphasis on empire building, from most other books from the Black Factory... I mean, Library.

SIX FRIGATES, by Ian Toll. It's the history of the founding of the U.S. Navy, and it's riveting. I'm getting lots of RPG ideas from it, too, in terms of picturing how a small fledgling nation stands up to the more powerful nations around it. But mostly, it's very interesting history in a chronological band that gets passed over lots of the time.

Just started reading Pandora's Star by Peter Hamilton. I have read several short stories by him and decided to try one of his novels.

Finished up Guy Gavriel Kay's Sarantium diptych and moved onto Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey (my favourite book of hers).

Next up is probably going to be McLynn's biography of Napoleon.

Was reading "The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse" but have put that aside for a little while. I'm now reading "Odd Hours" by Dean Knootz. He is one of my favorite aurthors, so when a new book comes out everything eles gets put aside.
