July purchases...

My purchase for the month is a 2007 Prius. This promises to keep me from spending much more money on gaming stuff in the near future. *crosses GenCon off the calendar* (Well, I can't say no to a MM V...)

Heh. That's generally my reaction to the current Dragon issue! :)

At least a) It had a nice Core Beliefs article.

But I can't understand why people are so against Dungeon 149. It's VERY sweet and the art in many, many places is great!

*loves the Orcus work for sure*

That's a lot of campaign settings! Do you ever use them as-is, or do you just loot ideas from them?

Cheers,
Merric

Usually I loot settings that I buy for ideas, though I plan to use the Scarred Lands stuff more or less as-is (of course, I also plan to run SCAP in the Scarred Lands, so I may be adding something from said AP to the canon setting). I mainly wanted the two setting books for the world so that, in the event I run subsequent campaigns in the Scarred Lands, I won't be lacking for options insofar as global coverage goes.

I bought Murchad's Legacy primarily because I've been promising Biggus to do that since way back when (in the days when print copies were still available). I had, at one point in time, planned on running an OGL-only campaign, which is when the setting originally piqued my interest. I'll likely never use it as-is, though there's plenty of good stuff to raid (enough that I actually contacted the author about possibly funding a limited print run).

Carse is more a generic city book than anything, although it is ostensibly linked to Feist's legendary Midkemia campaign. Oh. And I forgot to add that I ordered The Dictionary of Imaginary Places to use as a kind of atlas for a planned Principia Malefex game that I've been wanting to run for a while now.

My July gaming purchases:
Forge of War (so good!)
Eyes of the Lich Queen
One case and four boosters of Night Below
Dungeon 148
Critical Hit Deck
Two dozen misc Dreamblade singles

I think that's about it...

I have picked up nothing (yet) for the month. Last month was SR4 and Street Magic. Next month Changeling: The Lost and (perhaps) Scion: Demigod (if it doesn't get delayed again).

Otherwise I'm keeping my eye on the LGS.

James Bond: 007 (Basic Set)

One of the finest and most under-rated RPG systems of all time. It was truly before its time.

25 years old - and that thing still plays like a modern, slick, and extremely well crafted modern RPG. I always thought Victory Games should have done much better than they ultimately did with JB 007. Good find on that one James.

1) I'm not currently running the adventure path

2) I was getting the last bunch of issues because they had either eberron or the exag mini-series. This had neither.

3) The charon stuff was nice. "meh" may be too strong. How about "enh"? :D
