Jurassic Park 4 (will it happen?)

Okay, just finished watching the JP movies - 1, 2, and 3, all in a row. It made me curious as to whether or not there would be a JP4. Went to IMDb and looked at the Jurassic Park IV: The Extinction page. It lists a 2006 release and says the movie is in pre-production.

Another page lists Sam Neill and Keira Knightley as possibly being in the movie. I've also read that the original script dealt with dinosaur hybrids, while other sites say that the movie won't take place on any of the islands.

Of course, it's all just speculation. So, post what you have heard whether it be casting, location, or script rumors. Any and all details would be helpful.

Cheers!

I have nothing official or rumor to share. However, I would like to say that while JPII was a bitter disappointment I did enjoy JPIII. If a good writer director team could be assembled for IV that would be great. There are many possibilities (and dinos) that could come from the film franchise.

To be noted: I'm on a bit of the Jurassic Park high myself. Just picked up the DVD yesterday and plan on watching it very soon. I loved that movie. First one I ever saw intentially more than 5x in the theater.

I think they should have stopped with the first one. I liked it but the others not so much.

I like dinosaurs and would love to see more movies with them in it. A time travel movie or a movie were man and dino live together but better than that cheesy one ABC had.

To paraphrase one of the characters in the first film, just because we can do something, doesn't mean we should do that thing.

Advice they might have followed with the films following the first.

It does, however, put me in mind of the episode of The Critic where the critic (voice of Jon Lovitz) reviews one of the Jurassic Park sequels, in which we see the film clip of the humans locked inside away from the dinosaurs. One of the characters comments, "They've gotten smarter!" At which time a newspaper slides under the door, which is subsequently struck hard enough to dislodge the key to the lock, which then falls on the newspaper. The newspaper is then withdrawn underneath the door, with key, and the lock begins to rattle as the dinosaurs begin to gain access.

Well, I laughed, anyway. :uhoh:
