Just got Dragon 315 - Campaign Classics

Ok, here are my thoughts on everything that has been said:

I believe what attracted me about Spelljammer was not the fact they were magical spaceships flying through space, but the fact that I got interested in Spelljammer when I learned they traveled through the phlogiston to enter crystal spheres (a.k.a. other Material Plane universes).

I hate to be picky...well, no I don't, not really...but crystal spheres were not part of other Material Planes (aka Parallel Primes). They were all part of the same, single plane: the Prime Material. Nothing extra-planar about it.

OMG! Return to the Lost City! The first campaign setting I ever played in!

I'm with you Urbannen! :D

The Lost City was one of the best modules ever and this is coming from someone who didn't use it until 2nd Edition. The city is now an important locale on my World of Kulan campaign setting and I REALLY want Dragon #315 so I can expand on the city for 3rd Edition. (Damn my empty wallet, I can't even afford a magazine right now.)

Now, if SOMEONE withe magazine can please give us some DETAILS, I will be really, really, happy.

Cheers!

Can anyone confirm that the Mystara article is actually related to B4, as the title suggests?

If so, I'm slightly dissappointed that the article doesn't deal with 'true' Known World material. B4 wasn't set in Mystara, though was later placed there in B1-9: In search of Adventure (as was B2).

I guess there's the Hollow World and Savage Coast stuff.

Also, does anyone know the purpose behind this issue? Is it just for old-school fan nostalgia. Will it lead to any future coverage of the settings?

This article refers to the inhabitants of Cynidicea in the great Alasyian Desert.

There is a sidebar article that explains the design team's creation of Mystara, how it started accidentally.

According to this issue's editorial, so much material was submitted for this project that much had to be turned away, to be used in later issues. Also, in same editorial, the May issues of Dragon and Dungeon magazines will release the 3.5 revision of Dark Sun. And the April Dragon will feature a 3.5 update for Oriental Adventures.

Now that's interesting. I wonder if the Polyhedron for that month will also offer some Dark Sun material...like they did with the githyanki invasion a few months back.

If that works, it would also be cool to see some of the other retired worlds come back in that format.

Indeed, very interesting.

I'm hoping for a 3.5 update of Mystara someday.

Another question, is the material abou tthe various settings taken from the various 'official' sites devoted to the settings? (like the Vaults of Pandius for Mystara, or athas.org ofr Dark Sun)?

Any word on Al-Quadim?

It's not going to use the M&M system. Point-build character creation is quite far from the original DF, so while M&M may see a martial arts supplement of some kind, DF won't be it. Dragon Fist will either be a straight up d20 campaign setting or a stand-alone OGL game. Design should get going in earnest in the new year and then I'll decide which way to take things.
Just as long I can mix-n-match with other Asian and Euro-Western fantasy campaign (with a little helpful appendix notes provided), I'm psyched for this product.
