I know it's impossible for an orc and an elf to breed... but could an elf and a goblin produce offspring? Or maybe an elf and an ogre? Or an elf and a troll...

I'm sure some d20 company has templates for half- whatevers of various species. There hasn't been any official word on the interfertility of these races though.

The Fiend Folio has a half-troll template. You may apply it to an elf.

A long-time poster on these boards (although I havn't noticed him for a while), Arcady, used to rule that since human may breed between both orcs and elves, that was because they were initially the offsprings of orcs and elves. A funny idea.

Me, I just consider that, if the mother is the elf, she either abort or die during pregnancy. While if the mother is an orc, the elfin babies won't survive their first year in the rough conditions of an orcish camp.

Well, I have the concept, I know what powers I will grant it, and roughly what stats it will have, now all I need is the name "Ogre-Elf" or "Elf-Ogre" just doesn't cut it. Any suggestions for a name?

Elog or Ogel ? (See "Orog".) eLog sounds like some server utilities, but Ogel isn't bad. Or if it's bad, it don't sounds like it is when it's 1:10.

I hope the baby chew his way out of the elven mother's belly.

Oh, man, do I ever! I suggest the name "Erlking". It's easy to go with Ogel, I know, but is it as interesting? The erlking was a real creature from German mythology that was spoken of in stories to keep children's behavior in check. Basically, I think it would be close to the concept you're looking for, because the erlking is said to be ugly and cruel, yet magical and frivolous. Remind you of someone? Ugly and cruel (ogre)... magical and frivolous (elf). Just thought it might be a neat alternative to the stump that is the half-ogre.

I posted this topic in hopes that I could fulfill my renegade hybrid appendix. It's just something I do in hopes that I might be able to make these into actual creatures one day. It's set up in a simple format so I can look at it without hurting me head. Some of them are actual hybrids from the d20 mythos (like the dwelf) and some are unofficial outside influences (like the elfling). Here is what I have:

Hybrid Mainstream Races:
-HUMAN-
Human + Human = Human
Human + Elf = Half-Elf
Human + Dwarf = Half-Dwarf
Human + Gnome = Half-Gnome
Human + Halfling = Half-Halfling (affectionately referred to as "half-halfs")
Human + Orc = Half-Orc
Human + Goblin = Half-Goblin
Human + Ogre = Half-Ogre
Human + Troll = Half-Troll (I know it's a template, but it's customary for all human hybrids to go with the "half-" prefix for simplicity.)

-ELF-
Elf + Human = Half-Elf
Elf + Elf = Elf
Elf + Dwarf = Dwelf
Elf + Gnome = Gnelf
Elf + Halfling = Elfling
Elf + Orc = N/A
Elf + Goblin =
Elf + Ogre = Erlking
Elf + Troll =

-DWARF-
Dwarf + Human = Half-Dwarf
Dwarf + Elf = Dwelf
Dwarf + Dwarf = Dwarf
Dwarf + Gnome = Gnarf
Dwarf + Halfling = Dwarfling
Dwarf + Orc =
Dwarf + Goblin =
Dwarf + Ogre =
Dwarf + Troll =

-GNOME-
Gnome + Human = Half-Gnome
Gnome + Elf = Gnelf
Gnome + Dwarf = Gnarf
Gnome + Gnome = Gnome
Gnome + Halfling = Gnomeling
Gnome + Orc =
Gnome + Goblin =
Gnome + Ogre =
Gnome + Troll =

-HALFLING-
Halfling + Human = Half-Halfling
Halfling + Elf = Elfling
Halfling + Dwarf = Dwarfling
Halfling + Gnome = Gnomeling
Halfling + Halfling = Halfling
Halfling + Orc = Orcling
Halfling + Goblin = Gobling? (sounds a lot like gobbling)
Halfling + Ogre = Ogreling
Halfling + Troll = Trolling? (may be confusing considering "trolling" is an actual word)

-ORC-
Orc + Human = Half-Orc
Orc + Elf = N/A
Orc + Dwarf =
Orc + Gnome =
Orc + Halfling = Orcling
Orc + Orc = Orc
Orc + Goblin =
Orc + Ogre = Ogrillon or Orog
Orc + Troll =

-GOBLIN-
Goblin + Human = Half-Goblin
Goblin + Elf =
Goblin + Dwarf =
Goblin + Gnome =
Goblin + Halfling = Gobling
Goblin + Orc =
Goblin + Goblin = Goblin
Goblin + Ogre =
Goblin + Troll =

-OGRE-
Ogre + Human = Half-Ogre
Ogre + Elf = Erlking
Ogre + Dwarf =
Ogre + Gnome =
Ogre + Halfling = Ogreling
Ogre + Orc = Ogrillon or Orog
Ogre + Goblin =
Ogre + Ogre = Ogre
Ogre + Troll =

-TROLL-
Troll + Human = Half-Troll
Troll + Elf =
Troll + Dwarf =
Troll + Gnome =
Troll + Halfling = Trolling?
Troll + Orc =
Troll + Goblin =
Troll + Ogre =
Troll + Troll = Troll

I know there are more monsters that could be used, but I wanted to use these as the basics. Any others go under special categories.

The list is by no means complete and I know I'll probably have to change some things around, but that's all well and good. It's a part of the process, anyway. So, please, poke holes in it, if you must!
