D&D 5E (2024) Solasta 2 and the 1/2 elf

The story of his upbringing, his experiences with both Humans and Elves based upon his story?
None of that has anything to do with his game mechanics.
The fact he ages faster than his wife?
Lifespan is also not part of game mechanics now. You want your character to be an 88 year old human? You can play that. It has no effect. It would be true for a human married to an elf in any case. Half elf is irrelevant here.
I like my species to be more than a funny hat.
Then you need to stop looking at the game mechanics and start actually writing the character.

you do realize this happens in our world and we are all human. People can tell . Also it mattered back in the day f you were a ginger
I think some here weren’t around for 1/2 elves in first edition. Being dismissive isn’t really an argument
Like I said in my original post it was important to solasta 2 that they may include. Bg3 being a 1/2 drow is being seen as less than a full drow
In the wow movie as one of you brought up wow. The 1/2 orc woman is treated very differently and it give her a different backstory from the rest of the invading orcs. She’s more human than a traditional orc

You weren't? Then we are on the same page - there is no need for rules for half elves, you can play one with existing species. Tanis would be human, Elrond would be an elf.

I didnt say that either. 2 for 2 on the strawman. Peace.
You said "Please point out where I was discussing the game mechanics". Now, I read that as you saying you were not talking about mechanics. Either you think the game mechanics of Tanis (which are ignored by the modules) matter, or you think it's the things that are not mechanical - the sort of things you listed - that are important. In which case, you don't need game mechanics to have that stuff. Please point out the strawman, because I do not see it?

So, if you want to role play a character who had red hair, you would need to have a mechanic for the effect of red hair? That makes no sense whatsoever.
Fun fact, there are multiple instances of D&D having game mechanics for characters with red hair, specifically in Ravenloft:
  • In the Castles Forlorn boxed set, there's a section about how characters native to the domain of Forlorn who have red hair can (inside the borders of that domain) use a small amount of druidic magic ("The Weeping Land" booklet, pg. 44-46).
  • Van Richten's Monster Hunter's Compendium Vol. 3 (p. 255) gives more generalized rules for this, outlining how redhead characters in their native domain can use a small amount of druidic magic (and that their rules for doing so are slightly different for redhead characters native to Forlorn, as the latter have a slightly stronger connection to their domain that most other such characters).
  • This latter ability was translated over to 3E in the Ravenloft Player's Handbook (p. 63) as the Redhead feat.
