Nope but that’s okNo, Tanis is a human with pointed ears who NPCs react differently to.

None of that has anything to do with his game mechanics. The story of his upbringing, his experiences with both Humans and Elves based upon his story?
Lifespan is also not part of game mechanics now. You want your character to be an 88 year old human? You can play that. It has no effect. It would be true for a human married to an elf in any case. Half elf is irrelevant here. The fact he ages faster than his wife?
Then you need to stop looking at the game mechanics and start actually writing the character.I like my species to be more than a funny hat.

You weren't? Then we are on the same page - there is no need for rules for half elves, you can play one with existing species. Tanis would be human, Elrond would be an elf. Please point out where I was discussing the game mechanics.

Falling back on memes is a sign of having run out of anything intelligent to say. You said mechanics didn't matter. Ergo you don't need to waste rules-space on mechanics for something that you can do just fine with the existing rules.
You said mechanics didn't matter.
You said "Please point out where I was discussing the game mechanics". Now, I read that as you saying you were not talking about mechanics. Either you think the game mechanics of Tanis (which are ignored by the modules) matter, or you think it's the things that are not mechanical - the sort of things you listed - that are important. In which case, you don't need game mechanics to have that stuff. Please point out the strawman, because I do not see it?I didnt say that either. 2 for 2 on the strawman. Peace.
Fun fact, there are multiple instances of D&D having game mechanics for characters with red hair, specifically in Ravenloft:So, if you want to role play a character who had red hair, you would need to have a mechanic for the effect of red hair? That makes no sense whatsoever.
