There are some folks here I wouldn't want to wait behind in the MacDonald's order line. I mean, there are *sooo* many options (how many freakin' burgers are there?).

Some folks just need a smaller list of options in their game, because too many options overwhelms and confuses them.

And there are some folks whom I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire. Your point?

Spidey sense is tingling!

Side 1: "Hackmaster is teh bawm, mang! 3e sucks donkeys! LOL!"
Side 2: "STFU, n00b, 3e rocks, Hackmaster is all up in my kool-aid! ROTFL!"
Moderator: "Look, can you chuckleheads fight without name-calling?"

I think I saved everyone some valuable time, there.
I am Kamikaze Midget: ECONOMIZER! TIME-SAIVNG DEVICE! ORACLE OF THE FUTURE! You will give unto me your pies! Orc not included!

Well, Quasimodo comes off as offensive in almost every post he makes. Seems like if someone finds something with 3e they don't like, it's like they bitch-slapped his grandma or something.

I just honestly can't believe anyone can create a 3e character quicker than a hackmaster character. Now, maybe if you decide on playing a straight ranger or wizard or whatever, it is. But if you EVER want a prestige class, you have to plan it out from level one.

This, of course, is hyperbole bordering on outright lying.

For instance, I have a character right now who qualifies for a Prestige Class I'm interested in taking, which was not even published when I started playing the character.

So, no, you don't have to plan from level 1 in order to take a PrC. You might have to plan from level 1 if you want to take it as absolutely early as possible - and wouldn't that just be metagaming? ;)

How does a fighter qualify for a prestige class that requires say, 7 ranks of diplomacy without planning ahead of time? Especially a fighter who has no interest in diplomacy, yet still wants to be a member of a prestige class that requires those ranks? He plans from level one. He does not reach level 11 with no ranks of diplomacy and all of a sudden cram 7 ranks in it. He allocates those ranks from word go, or he multiclasses to cleric or rogue, which again, is thought out beforehand. But since I'm a liar, and probably a thief and a rapist too, I'll just refrain from any more posts on the matter.

One thing I have always *hated* about Hackmaster is the microtype the GMG is printed in. (If I had ever got around to reviewing it, it would have gotten only one star, because I find it physically painful to read).

I think that if I ever did play Hackmaster (as a serious game), I'd have to get rid of skills, talents, building points and the character background tables, and keep honor and the basic race/class abilities. And I'm not sure about honor. Percentile ratings and improvement for ability scores are great, and those are keepable.

I really don't think I can express how much I utterly hate the skill system. Arrggghhh!!!!
