What the heck is a "Garner Dozois"? I'm out-of-touch with modern authors.

And Jack Vance is a good reason why. The bar just isn't as high as it once was.
 

Krug, thanks for reminding me this book is out. Been waiting for it some long I kinda forgot about it. I shall download the Kindle edition at lunch.

Oh, Gardner Dozois is a famous SF editor and author (primarily an editor).

As for Vance... if regard for him is an example of lowering the bar, I'm curious to hear who people rank higher. For his language along, he should be counted among the best writers of speculative fiction.
