I hope not. Dragons are cool and all that, but wyrmling dragons just lack something in the gravitas department.

I don't know if it'll have that much hand-holding. It's an adventure for "people who have never played 4E," not "people who have never played D&D." So obviously it will have some condensed version of the rules, but beyond that there's little reason it will have to lead you by the hand through the adventure itself.

We'll see in a few months!

I hope your wish will be answered. But KotS is 1-3 level adventure. It would be logical to believe (considering the new EL [which replace the old CR system]) that this adventure will contain only low-level creatures. So, I would be very surprised to see a dragon in there.

If you read the W&M the Shadowfell plane is a dark and evil one. It touches the world in places of deep shadow (that is the Keep part). The energies of this plane create illusions and shadows constructs, and animate some undead. I think it will be a creepy and fun adventure. We'll probably see crypts, tombs, cemetery, zombies, skeleton, and the whole plethora of low-level undead creatures.

I still think it'll be looked back at as "that adventure for people that don't know the game," a stigma that adventures like Sunless Citadel and Keep on the Borderlands don't have. They should have released it along with the books and just made a cool adventure without worrying about the noobness of those playing it.

How does Keep on the Borderlands not have the 'that adventure for people that don't know the game' stigma? It was packaged with the Basic rules set! I think that KotSF is analogous to KotB. It will be many players introduction to D&D. Hopefully, it will be a more immersive adventure than KotB.

I was a big fan of the wyrmling in Sunless Citadel. The idea of trying to capture a "pet" dragon without harming it was lots of fun for my group. And we got to try out the non-lethal damage rules while doing it.

If KotB was released before the Basic Set and was playable without it, I'd agree with you. And if KotSF came out along with the 4E books so that you could reference those when you play, I'd also agree with you.

I'm not saying KotB isn't a noob module (one from the early 80's, at that), but it didn't have to explain how the PC's abilities or skill checks work.

Are we sure that FotSF is going to assume you've played 3E? That would be a bad assumption if you're trying to pull in new players.
