5E Keith Baker: Exploring Eberron

Eberron creator Keith Baker has been busy recently! He has unveiled the cover to his new book, to be released in July on DMs Guild in PDF and Print on Demand hardcover. It will dive into parts of Eberron that have received little attention in prior books, including the undersea civilizations and the planes.

He's also started a series of blog posts now that Rising from the Last War is out:
Also, check out the KB Presents Twitter for more previews

EDIT: Official title now!

Way of the Living Weapon sounds potentially fun - looking forward to seeing more.
From an earlier tease it sounds like it'll come in multiple ...variants? skins? for the big four Eberron specific races. In other words we're probably looking at something like psychic blades for kalashtar, claws and fangs for shifters, built in weapons for warforged, and offensive transformations for changelings. Which is a really cool concept, and I hope the mechanics back it up.

Interesting - I was expecting something oriented around Daelkyr symbiotic weapons.

It'd be hard to build a subclass around having or enhancing specific magic items. I mean, there's the Artificer, but that's an entire class built around the idea. But in general, tying class features into items you can either lose or never gain in the first place is just a bad tangle to get into. Still, you might get some of that sort of flavor from that Darkblood Dwarves entry this teaser shows.

You know, if I play as a Way of The Living Weapon Monk, I may reflavour the class name as "Way of the Soulknife" if I'm playing as a Kalashtar.

I have been saying since 2014 that any Soulknife that comes out ought to be a Monk subclass, and that I'd used Way of the Fist Monks as chassis for Soulknife NPCs for a while now. It works surprisingly well.

I mean Ki points can always be reflavored as Power Points.

So some bad news - OBS currently has a three+ week turnaround on hardcovers. This came to my attention through general dmsguild product chat, but I'm assuming it also applied to the team now as they wait for proofs.

They've previously stated that the agreement with OBS required them to launch both at the same time. Maybe they can renegotiate since that agreement was pre-pandemic?
