I begin to think an equally illuminating question might be "Would you play a game with a DM who disallowed kender?"

Depends on who you are.
It's not that simple. If the distinction of kender is so important that halfling isn't good enough for someone the reason is generally because they wanted the shied of "I'm playing a kender to defend their behavior"I begin to think an equally illuminating question might be "Would you play a game with a DM who disallowed kender?"
I also take a dim view of chaotic stupid & am not above calling someone out when they start causing problems. There are people in this thread who weren't playing back when kender were a thing so I feel like It's important to give some history on what specifically a kender is. It's literally a race built on almost every negative trait a player can exhibit at the table & to top it off was written in such a way that the absolute morality of the system at the time would punish the victimized players if they ever snapped. It's a race one very small step down from Jill's stalker X making lewd tongue & hand signals across the table at her."If the distinction of kender is so important that halfling isn't good enough for someone the reason is generally because they wanted the shied of "I'm playing a kender to defend their behavior" "
And the fact that you wouldn't allow that, says something about your table expectations and your opinions on player behaviour.
Please understand, I'm not making value judgements about right or wrong (on anyone) here, regardless of which side of the fence they are on. But it is certainly an interesting divide!
No just a beyond the pale scenario no sane gm should allow, kender were that bad"It's a race one very small step down from Jill's stalker X making lewd tongue & hand signals across the table at her."
Is that a reference I should recognize?
