Keith Vargas, PhD
For a moment, Keith wanted to believe that the horrible scene with the giant spiders really was all a show. He wanted to believe that the only outrage here was that they were being held against their wills.
However, when he saw that the man in purple was lying, he felt like the floor fell out from under him. His head swam with the realization that the spiders were real, the carnage was real, their imprisonment is real, and their kidnapper is trying to manipulate them with a thinly veiled lie.
'How can we deal with this!?' he thinks to himself in a half panic. 'This is a nightmare!'
He begins to feel some relief from his terror as his fellow prisoners volunteer to go with the man in purple. He determines to go with them... at least it's a step out of the cage, and that's where hope is.
Trying to calm his voice and not let on that he sees through the lie, Dr. Vargas addresses the man in purple with cautious humility, "Al... alright. I'll go, too."
