D&D 5E Kickstart Dragon Magazine or any other rpg type magazine?

Paizo does it - they call them adveture paths. Let's face it, it's a monthly subscription magazine, where 2/3rds is taken by an adveture, and the rest by articles, new monsters, fiction, etc. EXACTLY what old time Dragon used to do, the only difference is it is solely Golarion oriented.

I wouldn't even consider attempting a print periodical myself. An article-based Patreon project, on the other hand, is eminently doable.

Yep. Premium production values, enticing subscription model, no external advertising. They do it very well.

Who here subscribes to *any* magazine? To be honest, I haven't subscribed to any for over a decade, as the coat is hard to justify with Internet access. Something nice like Dungeon might be different, but how many people would be interested?

I don't subscribe but I read Medieval Warfare in print form, as well as Asimov's Science Fiction, Analog Science Fiction, Fantasy and Science Fiction. And will probably add Wargames Illustrated to that list. I like magazines.

I subscribe to several dead-tree magazines...

I get 2... one religious, one fraternal.

And then there's one that I've never intentionally subscribed to, but which the NRA keeps sending me at my parents old mailing address. If they knew where I was, they'd send it to the new one, I suspect.

Oh, and until my folks' address changed, another freebie... AOPA's free quarterly.

In the days before Kickstarter was a thing, Kobold Press did a similar thing for articles and ideas and even parts of the world.
It still didn't save Kobold Quarterly.

Magazines are just no longer a thing.
Its mostly a tablet/ipad thing now. I would buy it if it were a tablet thing. Im hoping that Wizards will release Dragon magazine once they get their house in order for 5e.

I still buy print comics on subscription; digital just isn't the same. And one film magazine, which is the best on the market IMO and a steal at the cover price. I might switch to digital on that front soon though.

The APs and the Player Companions are similar in design to the magazines. But they price it like a book and it's book quality. No one would pay $20 for a magazine.
