Why would you exclude the final, perfect evolution of the form? And Sam Neill’s crowning performance! It goes:2001 - > Dark Star - > Alien makes the line much more direct.
2001 - > Dark Star - > Alien -> Event Horizon

I remember having the choice of Star Trek and Black Hole in the theater when they came out and we saw Black Hole. Hadn't seen it again until we rewatched it last year. I had absolutely no memory at all of the hellscape part!I love The Black Hole and think it’d be good for a remake, especially if they lean into the horror aspect a bit more. That movie shook me up when I saw it as a kid!
I saw bith 2001 and The Black Hole as a child on Capacitance Electronic Disc releases that my dad had collected. No way I could forget the hellscape as long as I live, lol.I remember having the choice of Star Trek and Black Hole in the theater when they came out and we saw Black Hole. Did you mean the CED was a hellscape or something elseI saw bith 2001 and The Black Hole as a child on Capacitance Electronic Disc releases that my dad had collected. No way I could forget the hellscape as long as I live, lol.
Naw, CED was a great format (films on magneticly charged Vinyl? The quality was great), I mean the literal, honest to God Hell that comes at the end of The Black Hole.Did you mean the CED was a hellscape or something else![]()
Spoilers!
If someone hasn't seen it yet ... TBH the film started deceptively as a kid's film, except was mild horror. What was happening to the crew was as bad as anything else.It's been over 45 years...do we really need to worry about spoilers at this point?
It was so obvious (to me, later) that someone from Disney said "We're Disney for god's sake - we need to make this kid-friendly, so send in some cute robots and have laser gun fights...haven't you seen Star Wars??"If someone hasn't seen it yet ... Cocaine is a hell of a drug, though that was a lot of 60's-70's kid's shows, they kind of make fun of it in the Simpsons with Homer in the chair, it's tripping like the ending of 2001. No wonder straight edge was a thing in the 80's.It was so obvious (to me, later) that someone from Disney said "We're Disney for god's sake - we need to make this kid-friendly, so send in some cute robots and have laser gun fights...haven't you seen Star Wars??"
